Good morning all.
My wife is disabled and whenever we go for a run of over a couple of hours she suffers back pain from the current state of UK roads plus the suspension of the Freelander.
My question is: Is it possible to make the suspension of my Freelander more comfortable and if so how?
I will be changing the car whenever I can find a suitable replacement but so far it"s been an unsuccesful search.
The reason I say that is I do not want to spend too much cash on any work required.
cheers

Hi Sorry to hear about your wife's pain when out and about driving, personally i would not spend anything on the suspension, especially if you are thinking of changing the car, a FL 2 give a softer drive i think, but in the mean time look at any type of booster cushion's for the back of the seat, and the seat base that is sat on,

Sorry to hear of your wife's back pain.

By more comfortable, what do you mean? At 155k miles, the factory shocks will have gone soft. This will make the vehicle feel bouncy, as the wheels wouldn't be as controlled as they should.
New shocks will make it feel better, but you might want to put the cost towards another vehicle.

Hi Nodge thanks for that. The trouble is I can"t find another 4x4 which I really like. Last week I went to test drive a BMW X3 but compared to my Freelander the driving position was awful. I"ve even considered an Volvo XC 90 which I"ve always like but the costs are quick high. No it"s got to be a Freelander 1 or 2 for me but finding one is looking for rocking horse s--t.
And thanks for the ads for cushions. I do like the mark 2 but sadly it"s not an Automatic. cheers

Back pain is a bugger.
I have no experience personally, and I can’t believe I’m even going to type this here, but is a disco with air suspension an option to you? Of course, you’d have to find one that has the air suspension working(!), so could be another journey looking for rocking horse crap… :)

I’m in the camp of save your money and invest it in the next 4x4, whatever you choose.
Seat bolster cushion as a potential interim that might help a little.
Heated seats do help, according to my wife. Won’t let me have any car/LR that doesn’t have them!

Good luck
