Got my first freelander a week ago, and have a problem.

Wondering if anyone can help..........

Everything on the car works fine, except when braking (medium-Hard) below 20 mph.

When start braking below 20 mph the front drivers side brakes make a grating noise.

It doesnt happen if I start braking above 20mph and then drop below 20 mph...... Only if I start breaking below 20mph.

The brakes work fine, when breaking at high speed, no problems, and the brakes stop the car fine.

It mainly happens arround town etc......

Could it be a sticky caliper that isnt releasing propperly at low speeds??

It going to a garage on Monday to get a look at, but a heads up in advance would be great.

Cheers

The guy I bought it off has been informed and we have agreed a mutual garage to take it to, he has been great.

I was just rying to find out if anyone else has had anything like this etc to put my mind at rest.

Cheers for the quick reply

Worst case is a wheel bearing or loose caliper. Maybe even worn out brake pads grinding away at the disc which you wont hear at higher speeds. Even something as silly as a bent brake back plate rubbing the disc.

I agree with MHM. take it back. Sale of goods act or summat. If something goes wrong within 6 months, it's taken that the fault was already there.
