spotted one of these at a local garage, looks a nice clean motor only prob is,its done 150,000 miles, its priced not bad at 4k from a garage i thought that wasnt bad,
whats others opinions on this, would it be a good buy or with that milage would it be buying and expensive repair bill,as probably wouldnt get any waranty with it..and would be looking to keep it for a few years..my 300tdi has done 185k but its easy to repair :D

TD5's aren't that bad and many issues are caused by poor maintenance from Chelsea owners lol.

I imagine there are a fair few owners on this site that rave about the TD5 and have much more mileage on than 150k

If the garage are asking that sort of money for it and they insist it's a goodun then they should put their money where their mouth is.

so by law from a garage you have 6 month warranty? ive just baught a 2002 discovery td5 serengeti 5 seater with 120k on clock. they said 3 months warranty. it has been back once since ive had it for a front wheel bearing/hub assembly which they replaced under warranty with genuine landrover part. be nice to know if they have to give 6 month warranty by law

NO you do not get 6 months warranty.

The warranty (guarantee) is a period where the seller will repair/replace parts FOC or make partial contribution, as a peace of mind guarantee for the buyer.

The 6 month period is a where the onus is on the seller to prove the fault was not there when the car was bought. If it was then the seller needs to repair it, unless the fault was known to the buyer at point of sale.

If you are out of warranty and the seller proves the fault was not there then it's your problem.

If it cannot be proved then the two parties shall come to an arrangement.

The product must be fit for purpose according to sale of goods act, this does not mean you can buy a ****ed car and get a 6month parts and labour warranty off the government.

And a 150k Disco 2 is a spring chicken. Buy with confidence that it will go wrong but it probably won't be a nightmare. This is the same for any land river regardless of age or mileage.

I would certainly agree with this, but add a proviso that its been looked after and had all the required work done as needed in its past life...not just service..and that can be harder to ascertain....you have seen the motor...if it feels right for you then go for it.

if you get it for the right price, you will nearly get that for it if you decide its not for you
