Hi. Know this is a bit late but I have just had the same problem with my 200tdi the garage where I take it to don,t know why it,s happening only advice from land rover dealership is take engine to bits and check all tolerances.Cost rules this out.Anyway what I was wondering is did u get it sorted and if you did what was causing the problem.Thanks.

fit a modified kit or something is out of alignment

Was gonna ask, is it a conversion? Have heard that if your engine mounts are not spot on and theres a minimal twist can eat belts a bit. Out quite a bit affects other end by putting pressure on props.

As told by landy mechanic

yes it,s 1989, 90 with 200tdi conversion done by last owner.Garage have fitted new cambelt kit and renewed the other three pulleys, only advice they gave was to take it back in the future for them to check it again.Last cambelt kit was changed 1000mls ago. It,s getting to be expensive.Just thought I would ask in case this has not solved the problem. Thanks

thats not true at all ,mounts bolt to block not timing cover ,300 tdis do often need later kit as fanatic said ,200 just a new kit as something like tensioner is worn if belt moves

Thanks for the help and advice will just have to run it now and see what happens when it,s checked again but will mention these things to garage if not fixed.Cheers

my problem was that someone had fitted a helicoil on one of the tensioner threads , it was only 2mm or so out of line but enough to cause some damage.
