What you think is it worth it with the engine being sweet? is there any snags or changes i should know about?

Cheers :p

What's an 'm8'
Your old 2.5 gasper may be sweet but you'll wonder what's hit you when you graft a 200Tdi in. If you intend to swap the lot in one go you'll not have any real problems

M8 = Mate/Friend/Companion  it is shared owner ship for us both to play in off road on are land & to go shooting in because im sick of power-washing blood out the back of mine LOL.

Cheers on the info i shall be getting the hole lump shuved straight up & in then :D

if only it was easy as shuvving it straight in..

make sure you swap engine mounts..and get the intercooler pipes and rad pipes extended, disco frame and rad/intercooler will need the existing defender mounts lowering, theres loads of other tweaks to do.
do a search on ere and youll find all the answers.

me i was lucky to pick up a genuine defender 200 and that was a straight swap

The 200tdi will give you around 8-10mpg more on average, and a lot more power/torque. However if this is purely an off-roader then you really don't need the extra power. Especially as your engine is running so nicely, I'd say stick with it until it goes pop, then do a 200tdi if you feel like it. :D

Good point! It will be 30% on road & 70% off road so your probably right iv more of less signed a deal on a 200tdi for free if i dig his drive out so its really only going to cost me £20 in derv

CHEERS

What you need mate is an Isuzu 2.8 turbo diesel, the import one with no cambelt, it's a pushrod engine and is very powerful and very economical and it dosn't matter if it gets wet as there no electickery to dampen it.

just so happens I have one in the shed which I took out of my rusty pickup two months ago, it did 30mpg round town and 45ish on a run and pulled like a train.

Go on.....you know you want one:D

That sounds like a good idea to me... out of interest, do they mate to a LT77 and how easy do they go in? Engine mounts manifolds etc.

Conversion kit inc plate to mate to gearbox, input shaft and engine mounts is 275 pounds plus the price of the engine.

Dosen't work out as cheap as landy engine but no intercoolers to worry about, it's just a very basic engine with a turbo.:)

Have to join a pipe to the zoo zoo downpipe from the turbo but otherwise ok.

Does sound good, why aren't you putting it in your 110? Thought I read a thread about you getting rid of your V8 a while ago.

I have a disco 200 tdi minus alternator approx 120k miles comes with harness probably could deliver for a fee engine I wanted £300. Would suggest new timing belt unknown last change was told it was done not long back but cannot guarantee. People on ere will say thats alot of money. You can get bargins on Ebay but lots of people are trying to get bargins at the moment. If you find one cheaper go for it. If not bare me in mind as I have one here.
