hi john
i live in thornton cleveleys,i have left my car in my mates garage at the old tvr site, the mechanic has had a look at it but cant fix it,i was thinking of towing it over to preesal 4x4 in the morning.i use my td5 for towing my trailer for work so i desperatly need it sorting so that i can earn money.

anything you can do would be great and i would pay you for your time.

thanks

kevin

hi, have you checked usual td5 issues such as oil in the injector loom, you need to pull the red plug off the ecu if oil is present then the harness needs changing, when you turn the ignition on can you hear the pump priming drivers side rear? did the rac plug into diagnostics

hi del

yes it was all of a sudden managed to limp a couple of miles realy strugling to get the car to rev realy flat with no power at all then it stopped and wont start at all now but it is trying to fire when the engine is turned .

As johnlad says, can you hear the rear tank pump " whizzing ".

If you turn the ignition to pos. 2, ( not cranking ), listen for a " whizzing " coming from the rear, this will stop after a short time.

If you cant hear this, then your pump has gone. Not a dissaster.

sorted now, went to darwin 4x4 place today and got a new pump £205 but needed my car as soon as so no choice realy,my old pump did not make a sound when i switched the ignition on so i was pritty sure it could only be the fuel pump and all my machanical mates thought the same.fitted the new one this afternoon and guess what [nothing] silent when i switched the ignition on,£200 for nothing, then a chap by the name of jonny came over and said undo the battery terminals wait 1 minute put em back on and this resets the ecu unit, car started and now runs great.

thanks for all the replies all realy helpful

if anyone needs a fuel pump i have one

cheers

Im confused !.

Your saying that all that was required was to dissconnect the battery for a minute ?.

And yeah, how long does it take to check for power at the pump ?.

If your hoover didnt work, you wouldnt just buy a new one without checking it was plugged in.

A,B,C,s for gods sake !.
