Hi my disco started playing up a few weeks back i suspected it to be the alarm/immobiliser ecu(17vt model) after several posts and a lot of messing about (check/charging battery checking for dry contacts checking earths etc etc the only thing that works is unplugging the box over night and on replugging the motor will fire up once if turned off you have to unplug wait so on so forth is there a way of bypassing this ecu box altogether if so would someone in the know please pm me i can provide proof of myself and vehicle if needs be as it about security im just completely out of options any help will be appreciated

I May be wrong, but is that not just a spider bypass you need? ( little black plug with a few wires in it.)

if it is you can get them easily from fleabay.

cheers

Hi, is your fob working?... if not did you try to resynk the fob?
yeh fobs work they did stop for a while during the first instance of this problem then i tryed unplugging for first time and leaving for a while then it fired up and ran for a few hrs now will start once with the uplug trick and the fobs work but immobiliser stays on im running very low on ideas

If you stayed with the same original thread stream you would get the same "suggestions" also if you fail to answer questions how do u expect to resolve your issue. :(
Try a replacement ECU ;)
yeh sorry bout that like i say new to this forum thing ive thought about a replacement ecu do you know if i would need the fobs that were programed to it aswell rather than reprogramming my existing ones im really trying to do this on a none existent budget trust me my missus will have my nuts if i waste any more on this motor

Ok you existing fobs can be reprogramed DIY to a replacement ecu, that's one of the benefits the single button system has, and 'how to' Is already posted in the Forum.
If you do find a replacement make sure it has the same part number and operating frequency as your existing one.

ill have a look on ebay the only thing doesnt the reprogram thing require the drivers door lock to work as mines busted

it seems that there's a trick to connect direct earth to pin #1 of the alarm ECU connector black/orange wire which will bypass the immobiliser and make it start all the time but might disable the central locking too... i dont know the pin disposals and can not vouch for the wire colour either.

i have tryed this but it didnt work maybe ill try it again with a better earth and proper wire the speaker wire wasnt man enuf maybe

ok so today went to the scrappy to try and source a second hand 17 vt box didnt find one but got chatting to one of the fellas and turns out his brother is a vehicle alarms specialist or some thing like that so got his number buzzed him and turns out theres a easy trick to bypass the ecu only catch you have to be able to get the engine running before you can make the bypass which is an area im having problems with but soon as i get the bugger going ill give it a go fingers crossed

fixed the bugger starts on the button now no more immobiliser to worry about thanks to every one who contributed to this thread over the moon to have the disco back on and off the road
