2000 discovery td5

Hi, so i have a td5 discovery iv just changed the engine and its not cranking over by the key, only if i bypass the relay, it starts for 3 seconds then cuts out ‍. I have a flashing B with a line through it, it will only start once, then i have to unplug the ecu, then will start again for 3 seconds, the car has been sat for 8 mths. Any help would be appreciated im pulling my hair out ‍. Thanks
