1.8 gearbox and transfer fitting to a Td4

Hi guys,
I have a 52 plate 1.8s 3door and have been offered a 51 plate Td4 with gearbox and transfer box failure. Can I just swap the these boxes straight from my petrol engine or is there going to be problems.

The 1.8 will use a Rover PG1 transmission whereas the TD4 will use a Getrag 283.

Not compatible.
