bloody typical freelander owner ;)

Made another trip with the freelander this afternoon, boy, was that again a real pleasant and exciting thing to do. I pity those guys driving discos or rangies, what blunt vehicles compared to a Freelander. Typical Freelander owners always try to keep the grim off their face when they pass such a large lump of steel (and praise themselves happy they made the good choice......:D :D :D )

Don't get personal, what makes you think I am anti-Disco ?? :) :)

Seriously, I bought the only one which could enter into my garage and which was available in diesel with an automatic gearbox, back in end 2000 the only car that met these standards was the Freelander, also the Freelander was the only car my wife really liked, I was more inclined towards a Subaru Forester 2.0 turbo but glad I didn't buy it as the gas bills are rather expensive for that car. (All the Japanese brands were in petrol only, later on they became also available in diesel but still not as automatic, only a couple of Koreans are (Kia Sportage) or will be end of this year (Hyundai Tucson) available as 2.0 diesel with autobox). As I understand the new one coming out in the end of this year will be about 15 to 20 cm longer this will be a problem if I ever have to change car in the near future. (Hope to be able to keep this Hippo for at least another 10 years as only done 49.800 kms now and the car was delivered on january 9th 2001, for a Td4 Steptronic this should (irpt should) not be a problem I think (hope). If I had had a taller garage it might as well have been a Disco I had bought back then, especially as one of my neighbours drov e these days Disco (he has had 3 of them and was very pleased about, now he drives a Porsche Carrera 4 but still has a Defender 90 soft top to do offroad, his son drove a Defender 90 hard top at that time but now he changed to an Audi TT).

Hyundai Tucson was my other choice - had a Coupe and that was a brilliant car after a few very simple mods(throwing the airfilter as far away as possible was one of them!). At the end of the day the Freelander won on a few counts - one of which was the auto diesel, the Hyundai really is ****e!! (I like my auto's as I have a weekend toy with a manual box if I want to play at gears:) ) The other thing I like about the F/L is its stance on the road - I have only done about 250 miles in it so far (so I am sure it will break down soon before anybody pipes up!) but I went and found some puddles and some snow today and had a lot of fun generally making a mess and getting it filthy. Not so sure about them heated seats mind - I inadvertently turned one on and thought I had followed through!

i got the disco 1 and im in the process of raising the garage door, a foot.
sod the fookin wife.

My cats breath smells like cat food :D

Obviously your gaylander is fast, it has no chassis. A slight downside in the old 4x4 stakes me thinks. Also it stays fast as more items fall off, hence less weight.
Ignore what yella says about your wife, she DID NOT tell him that.
I told him that your wife told ME she liked it.

And your "cat" is actually a shih tzu.:D
