hi all,

i've read in the Sun Motoring suppliment that the current 2 litre diesel is being discounted by £5,000 in expectaton of the new model coming out.

My dad is looking to buy a new (brand new) 4x4 and we are looking at options.

has anyone heard of this offer? the paper doesn't say whether its a nation wide thing or if its just one dealer.

any info/help/advice greatly appreciated.

James

Not sure of exact figures but I know there ae some deals to be done on Freelanders at the moment - I played 3 dealers off against one another and got over 5k off list price off mine - they just kept on undercutting one another - in the end I didnt go with the cheapest either, - i gave the three dealers my spec' requirements and told them when i wanted to make a decision by, Hunters in Guildford came in middle at 25GBP more than my local dealer, but they went the extra mile in terms of getting me the info i required. Bushbury in Wolverhampton lied to me by saying that they could retro-fit cruise control for 250GBP and only admitted that this would not be covered by the warrantywhen I asked for it in writing, my local dealer, Stratstone in Stourbridge started off by offering me a 5 month old ex-demo for more than the cost of a new one - it was only when i started putting other dealers prices in front of his nose that his prices started getting more reasonable, by which time I felt i could not trust the salesman - he got proper arsey with me when i said I was going for a dealer that was 25GBP more expensive as well!!! Unsure if I will be getting any warranty work done there

and you can recoup some dosh by selling it on ebay for 3 grand in 3 yrs time.

think i will keep my disco less to go wrong and when it goes wrong big hammer and a good kicking

is that the same boffin who designed my aluminium door skin and stuck it onto a steel frame?

Getting back on topic, I saw an "S" reg Freelander hard back today for £4500. Not sure on exact model as I was storming past in my V6. Nice when she goes :D
