The door handle is the cause of the rear door rust. The mounting bolts chipped the paint when the car was built. Once the paint protection was removed. It was only a matter of time, before the tin worm took hold.

Nasty hole behind my rear door's handle. Need to attend to it, but bigger jobs to sort first!

Currently thinking of cutting out the dead metal and braising in new before a skin of filler and paint... Nasty feeling it'll turn out to be a bigger job than I think!!!

And how I repaired the door handle.

Also three done this way.

Just had another look at mine: the rust there is starting to become a real priority action point! :(
I kinda enjoy sorting out the boot door holes in a masochistic way. It's very satisfying but if the rust hole has crept beyond the handle it means a bigger spray job. Last one I resprayed most of the boot door, I didn't bother with behind the spare wheel.

Oh, that's easier than I thought!

You've done a "how to" haven't you?
Not how to take the door card off but have done it so many times now I don't even think about it. Just beware landing on yer arse when yer pulling the bottom out. Been there several time too.
