Ok...So I had the water pump and head gaskets replaced, skimmed head, new bolts etc....on 4.0 gems.
Then 5 days and 100 miles later it starts smoking from exhaust..(white/grey) more when upto temp.

Breather pipes/oil separator replaced..

No water loss.....20 m.p.g.

At a loss here guys....

Oh and the fuel regulator is missing the vacuum to chamber hose....

Thank you in advance
Peter

Have an exhaust gas in coolant check done asap.
How is ect now? Are you certain on no coolant loss? Remember, if a liner has dropped (or just at the start of dropping) your repair shop won't necessarily see it - as you may be talking about something as little as 7 thou but it will 'channel' and start the insidious work on the new gasket. White/grey smoke would have me looking at that possibility. I am actually quite surprised that a general recall was not forced on LR because of that near-universal liner issue - especially when the fix is so simple and excellent (i.e., top-hat/flange the damned things right from the beginning). For such a high-quality vehicle it is just plain bizarre that they got away with (or would even try it in the first place) not 'top-hatting' right from the beginning.

Small hose from fuel regulator to trumpet-base is an easy fix - as any good line of the appropriate diameter will do - its just a mild vacuum there so no great stress is even a remote concern.

Good luck and get the appropriate leak checks done asap as you should be able to go back to the shop and get some sort of warranty work or compensation if they missed a dropped liner and then went ahead with the head-gasket work anyway.
