Contacted the seller regarding that and his reply was that if you glue the cap at two opposite corners you should be able to lever it with a screw driver when needed to open. I just hope it wont stay opening all the time

My question is: In order to take the transducer out of the key, do you have to break the original key?

Nope it just prizes apart and you can take the chip out :). I repaced my keyblade and it worked fine.

Mmmmm case must be glued together, so how do you change remote battery if it goes flat?not sure it's something i would want to do

I had 1 for my Mg. The case was glued together so battery changing is interesting but possible. They give a nice modern feel.

I bought one and the key blade wasnt quite right the shoulder part was longer on there and the locksmith couldnt cut it correctly

ive got one the quality is not as good as my vectra but they are ok remember to tell him its for a freelander as the mgf keys are different. i glued my on the corners but dropped it and fell apart so ive put a bit more glue on it also you have to get a very small keyring to put it on as it wont fit a standard keyring

I also have one, ok for the money work fine. They are easy to open up even once glued to put new battery in.

Basically there are mixed opinions on this, some say its ****e and some say its ok. I'll give it a try and see what crops up. Thanks a mil guys

Is it best to use a little drop of superglue each end, or 'icing cake' it around the whole plastic perimeter on one side of the clam shell, and then pop the other dry half on top?

I'm guessing with that method, you get drips, and if you wipe superglue it'll leave a lovely glue smudge on the black plastic, including the residue of the cloth you use.

Looks a good deal, but I wonder if the clam shell, using glue sparingly, will come part after a while?

I'm guessing batteries last about 3 years before it needs to be broken apart.

any members around the northants area that want a spare 2 button fob programmed to there freelander just let me know
just pick one up from your local scrappy and i will programme it for you for free

I hope mine is or it'll be going back to with negative feedback as he states on the eBay page it is for Freelanders.

That was my argument, told him what the locksmith had said and his response was:

"on the market are 2 different type of the blade
we have got in stock only one type and thats why we have ask in our advert to very careful compare attached photo to current key
if you got different type
please use RETURN REQUEST option and send it back for refund"

Sounds like bollocks to me! Compared my key to the photo so many times and it looked the same, but it's impossible to check exactly when it's just a tiny image.
