Ebay has one interest, and one only - making cash for ebay.

Ebay has no conscience about dealing with stolen goods - indeed, their business probably handles more stolen goods than anyone in Britain. But they weep crocodile tears, and say we should tell the police. These days the police priority is issuing fixed penalty notices to raise cash, not actually working to prevent and detect crime.

If it keeps going in this direction, more and more people will start taking the law into their own hands, and that leads to anarchy.

This country is heading for a BIG mess.

Methinks we need to get organised and report anything dodgy to ebay, like no VIN, no V5 etc. Hopefully they'll get sick of it and tighten their listing rules. There will clearly be a load of stolen parts also, but that would need police involvement and its difficult to find proof. But no identity, is just blatantly illegal.

If the police were doing anything about ebay and its criminal sellers it would be worth it but all that seems to be happening, is they are flaging the motors up so the poor bugger that buys them ends up loosing his money and the motor,the scrote selling them gets off with it

There are several other landys, one without plates, in his pictures which is worrying.

Really it isn't just a police thing but dvla who can trace parts better and identify the vehicle

I think the problem is that ebay don't really care, i've reported loads of people for blatantly selling vin tags for land rovers, either defenders or tax exempt vehicles. One of the forum's favourite sellers ('no fear' of me naming him here obviously, oh no) had an advert for a 90 rolling chassis, with a rotten chassis that was blatantly just scrap, and just for the ID, that ran for months as a fixed listing, and ebay didn't remove it, even when it was reported for fee evasion, which normally gets their attention. Unless someone puts and ad for the vin tags alone, ebay won't pull it, if they include a bit a scrap metal with the sale, even when they blatantly offer to post the tags only, they don't remove the listing.

Unless there's some sort of expose in the press highlighting what they ar doing that makes ebay look bad, nothing will be done.

I suspect the law will eventually be changed to curtail the theft/breaking of vehicles but it will be a blanket ban on all 2nd hand car parts. Vehicles will have to be 100% stock or will fail the MOT.
