Been on the look out for a series 2 landrover for a few months now and finally found a swb wreck sitting on a driveway, spoke to the owner he wants £500 for it. from what i can see its got more holes than i can count, the doors dont catch properly and there arent any door tops its got a 2.5na engine that runs but got a problem with heater plug switch ?, also oil dripping from centre of it. Im not scared of getting my hands dirty, spannering and welding is well within my grasp.

Is there any advice or tips you can give me before i go part with my cash tomorrow cheers :)

Don't do it Scrap price for a series is about £200 and that's what ya buying from the sounds of it.

i wish i could find one for scrap price, I know the history of the motor and been told mechanically its sound, original owner sold it because of electrical problems and the guy who has it now has done nothing to it for 2 years i've seen it running the chassis rails dont look in too bad nick its had floor pans done is there anything else i should be looking at ? as for non standard engine doesnt bother me to much provided i know what it is when looking for parts. Its going to be a winter project not going to be off roading in it , want it for a second car daily driver

hahahahahaha

i used to drive a zeter tractor for some time not much difference from a series :) as for price he wont budge i know what he paid for it from speaking to previous owner . not had much luck been bidding on a few on fleebay but all going way outta my price range for pretty much the same thing :(

chassis and bulkhead are the biggest killers of Series', both are repairable up to a point and replaceable with enough money or vast amounts of time...........engine is a big factor but cheaper to replace than the bulkhead so unless your doing a nut and bolt restoration RUST

forget the pitfalls and get a series...you wont drive it much but you'll love it......**** getting a discochavmobile or a gayngie or a gaylander...if you want it buy it and spend some time getting to know her :D
