The Boss has bought me a project to keep me busy while I'm at home all day doing nothing !!!!
Its her weekend car a 2000 1.8 in Alveston Red. 3dr Hardback 28000miles
Immaculate inside and out and very clean all round.
We would not have got it if it had not been as clean and tidy as it is.
Full service history and all paperwork from Colliers in Birmingham, 1 lady owner from new. (Genuine)
Had a few things to do so far of course
Replace 1 keyfob and have it connected to car by garage £10 from eBay for key and £25 to garage for sorting it out two others that the dealer had supplied but said were faulty. So now we have a surplus
Replaced clock as it had missing digits £30 from eBay now we can tune in radio
Replaced rubber bonnet covers near windscreen as both were very grotty
Touched up tiny spot of rust on rear door edge above handle.
Most I have seen have this problem for some reason
Replaced brake clips on bulkhead as 2 had broken and brake pipe flapped about
Sprayed speaker grilles and replaced foam pads in as someone had cleaned them with gunge and speakers rattled at high volume.
Purchased a 6CD player to fit to R770 radio fit as soon as I have finished the garden
Given the whole car a complete clean and the plastics and hardback have come up like new.
So still worried about all the Freelander problems and to put off the inevetable as long as possible I intend to ensure that as many preventative measures are taken as possible.
I have been looking at the coolant level and temperature warning sensors and have ordered the parts that TMHM and Hippo have suggested.
Will fit them when they arrive and let you know how it works.
This will give an audible and visual warning of any coolant problems. Not sure where to put the temp sensor yet though.
I cant see a plastic thermostat in any hose so I would imagine that it also needs the thermostat kit so I will fit that one as well. Unless anyone can tell me where it should be on the car.
Can anyone suggest any other known mods that should be done to this mark one to keep her on the road ?
So apart from a box of matches and a petrol can
Your suggestions would be very much appreciated
