London Low Emission Zone

I dont know if you realise that the low emission Zone extends right out to the M25 hardly central London !!
It actuatly extends out further than the M25 on the SE side, and i just got a letter telling me my disco don't comply, ****ers, however they also tell me that the government have negotiated large discounts with car manufacturers so i could get £2000 for my D1 :D and spend £30,000+ on a D4 :( that does less MPG than my old polluting D1 :(, ****ERS, or i could pay £100 a day to go inside the clean zone, ****ERS.

isn't there an option of fitting a DPF?
 
Yep 2 to 3 grand, apparently, remember where i work (my other job) we can't get them to work propperly on modern engine's with the regen thats needed to clean them out, and they think by bolting DPF to an old engine will be ok :doh: and they don't gaurenty that they will work ****ERS.

yeah i remember lol, if you see any 16" or 17" 4stud wheels kicking around i could use a set....nod nod wink wink ;)

stilll could be worse could be injecting distilled pig pis into it........ i'm sure that will eventually work its way down from trucks to cars

Ive got a set of 16'' 4 stud wheels (cossie escort style) with uniroyal rain sport 2 tyres at the workshop if thats what ya looking for.

Pigs **** LOL ya got to luv the french, its bloody expensive anorl, and the DPF has to be changed at 75,000mile on the peugeots :eek:
 
Update:

I sent my V5 to Swansea to get the model changed from "Light 4x4 Utility" to "Estate". They replied saying I needed a letter from Land Rover to confirm that my car is an estate, also photos.

Land Rover Customer Relationship Centre (Abbey Road, Coventry, CV3 4LF) were very helpful and sent me a confirmation letter.

A few weeks after sending this and the photos to DVLA I received a corrected V5C and on checking the TfL website my car is now exempt.

A good result.
 
Right Guys & Gals, we have done loads of research on this as we have lots of Landrovers in the Scout association and it goes like this:

All Defenders 90, 110 & 130 (pre 2002) and all series vehicles (post 1974) DIESEL ONLY.
Are Utility vehicles and are under the scheme, the only way around it is to change them to petrol and have DVLA register them as petrol.
That is the only way.


No 5 door discovery is under the scheme regardless of fuel type as it is a car 'type of vehicle' on V5 says"estate".
The only exception to that is 3 door discovery's which were built using commercial bodies, about 50% of 3 door discovery's have "utility" written on the V5, if you have one of these, get it altered by DVLA now.

It is £100 a day to drive you un-modified 4x4 within the London LEZ and £200 a day for trucks and buses that don't comply.

But no one knows about ex-military vehicles such as 101 Forward controls, lightweights etc, London LEZ Say they have no listing for them.

Bet they include them though.

Anyway....Them's the facts.

Hi, muddyspark. I have a 300 tdi commercial. you say get changed now, my v5 class it as light 4x4 utility what do i do now to get it changed cheers elt.

Hi Muddysparks.

What matters to TfL is what's on the V5C. As I said in my earlier post, the V55/6 application form is completed by the supplying dealer. In my case, although the car is clearly an estate (5 door / 5 seat TD5 ES), the dealer called it a Utility on the form - hence my problem. So some estates are incorrectly designated.

Easy enough to change but something to be aware of.

It may well be that mine is the only one of course.
