I have already been on there and done it
if you do it by reg its saying its not included ?????
but if you go the other way it says it is.?????
has anyone had a quote for the filter ?:(

You don't need a filter.

Look on your V5C. If it's classed as a 4x4 utility then it will be liable for the charge. If it's an Estate or Station Wagon then it won't be.

The DVLA will change it but you need a supporting letter from Land Rover (very helpful folk there) and photos.

Did mine earlier this year and there's a write up somewhere here.

I'm surprised as they were helpful with me, and I would have thought that as CSW stands for County Station Wagon it would have been OK.

Who did you ask?

JUst phoned transport for London re the LEZ, told them i had a td5 2001 90 that was originally a commercial but now is a private car, and why should i be penalized, upshot is he will send off the information and i should get a reply within a couple of weeks explaining why i have or have not been banned from london. SO EVERYONE IF YOU HAVE A DEFENDER THAT IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE ZONE PLEASE PHONE THEM AND ASK FOR AN EXPLANATION, ( even if you dont go into London your still being discriminated against) as soon as i said Land Rover he new straight away about the "grey area"
so phone them on.
0845 607 0009 if we all give them grief may be they will change their minds. and save a £100 a day if we stray in side the M25.
Forgive me if i sound like a left wing anti government anarchist but this gives me the right hump.

Guys, just to let you know, i have a 1999 110 TD5. Unbeknown to me it started off life as a commercial with solid sides and has at some stage been converted to a CSW. Naturally TFL said it was a 4x4 utility and therefore subject to LEZ.
I wrote to DVLA asking them to change the V5C document. Thedy refused saying i needed a lettter from landrover supporting the change. Landrover said they could not do anything as it has been manufactured as a commercial.
In the end I took several photos of the Landy, complete with the seats and back doors. I wrote to TFL a couple of times, asking them to use a bit of common sense. I also implied that I may seek legal action.
I have now received a letter stating my vehicle is now exempt!!!
A victory for the common man.
