Need to replace keys and keyfob?

Evening all,
Thieving types smashed their way into the Scouts mini bus today
and lifted my ruck which had in it, amoungst other things, my driving licence ( home address) and the keys to my 03 much loved 110 Defender. Got the battery out now and the other half's car parked in front of it. But has any one got any idea of the cost of replacing all the key barrels and the key fob? Or am I over reacting? Already got the home insurance primed to replace the house locks tomorrow. Spent the last 7 hours sat in wet clothes due to the caving today and the thieving bastards walking off with my dry stuff.

ignition lock is about £35 from memory. Keyfobs can be programmed by anyone with a Nanocom or hawkeye. Where are you located?

you could try a local locksmith.

All,
£570 at main stealer about £370 at an Indie. That is replacing all the locks, two new fobs and a new alarm/immobilizer ECU. Anyone got any cheaper ideas?

Buy a new ignition lock/barrel and new door locks and fit em yourself. Then buy 2 fobs off ebay or your landy independent and get someone with a nanocom or hawkeye to delete your old fobs and add the new ones. Should cost about £35 for the barrel. £5 ish for the door locks and then £20-£40 ish for some fobs.

Was down your neck of the woods where my stuff got lifted, caving at Priddy, wouldn't reccomend it, wet and f**king expensive.

Looks like you can give the missus a valid excuse for getting yerself a diagnostic now.

With the hawkeye you need the bar codes on the fobs. With the old Nanocom you don't. I dunno if you need them for the nanocom evo (new nanocom).

It's bloody tight getting a flatbed into the carpark of the caving place in priddy.

The bloke at the indie LR place was telling me that he would need to replace the central locking/immobiliser ECU as well as the locks. Looks like I'll be looking to buy a nanocom of similar and sorting it myself.

I don't have central locking on my 110 so haven't mucked about too much with the immobiliser system but yep that's what I'm saying. I programmed another fob for Buckshot the other day as he only had the one and as far as I'm aware he's had no problems with it.

Do you have a spare set of keys + fob for your landy at the moment?

If you do you could meet up with either myself or another more local LZ member and test program a fob. I haven't changed my eka code an unfortunately I'm not gonna be near my landy for another few days to check but as far as I'm aware you can change the eka code too.

Yes I am still driving my LandRover using the spare keys. Taking the battery out at night to avoid loosing my wagon to a visit from the crims. Changing the EKA code is to make the central locking/alarm ECU to ignore the original fobs?
What about the key transponder when I replace the ignition barrel and keys?

When you code in new fobs you automatically overwrite the old ones,so no need to worry about them,they will be useless on your car.
Well thats the case with Testbook anyway,I always keep a couple of fobs in stock for this reason.

Changing the EKA code is to make the central locking/alarm ECU to ignore the original fobs? The eka code (emergency key access) is an emergency override for if yer fob goes pete tong. It enables a key to be turned in the lock X number of times and then allow the vehicle to start.
What about the key transponder when I replace the ignition barrel and keys?
Really appreciate your advice here,TBH I don't know if the chip is programmed at the same time as the fob buttons are programmed or if it has to be done speperately. I'll have to get buckshot to test the fob he had done last weekend.

I have a feeling that the old fobs are wiped by nanocom as eightinavee says as I had to re-program buckshots original fob too. I also had to re-do mine when I first programmed the extra faob cos the missus had her fob with her and it wiped it.:doh:
