freelander td4 vibration at 1250 rpm

It'll be the weights on the gear selector. Stuff some rag around them nice and tight in neutral, and sit on the drive and gently rev it, it'll be as quiet as a mouse. Just don't get the rag wrapped up in moving parts. If you get someone to hold the revs for you you'll see them vibrating. I...

    Ron box??

Could it be fuel related, starvation.. have you checked the fuel filter, and might be worth checking the pick up strainer in the tank..

    Maf cleaner

I cleaned the MAF on my Audi a while ago, using carb cleaner, and very gently with a cotton bud... and buggered it right up, they are quite delicate as I found out to the tune of about £100 from the local stealer.. bugger..

    Intermittent STARTING PROBLEM

When you say a "good pre start noise", do you mean the starters turning the engine over but it just won't fire.. or the starter motor won't actually turn?

What have you done to your Freelander today

Checked out the dreaded rust behind the tailgate handle, just the middle fixing has rusted, seems I'll need to make up a boiler plate around that and paint it up, all hidden by the handle luckily...

    Temperature Gauge + Engine Fan

Maybe its had a tiny leak somewhere for a while, and a litre drop was enough to make he cooling system struggle, the cooling system isn't that strong on a 1.8 at best.. I've had a rad do that before, the leak was so small it never left a trace, till it suddenly started to overheat.. Top it up...

    smokey freelander

If the rear fuel pump doesn't sound that great I'd definately check around there, that its all piped correctly thru the filter, separator etc, change filter while your in there, and that there are no leaks or evidence of it pulling in air. Check the power to the pump, its switched by a relay...

Not saying it won't ever happen, but take no notice of the cock!

    smokey freelander

Just give the connection a good clean before buying a new harness, unless it looks totally fooked .....

    whats this noise?

How wet was the grass you drove into, the tensioner for the aircon on ours made a row like that when it got wet, and shutup after a few seconds.

    smokey freelander

When you say miss at idle, do you mean its hunting, ie revs going up and down. If so clean the contacts on the high pressure sensor on the fuel rail. Ours done this the other weekend, started it one Saturday morning and it ran like a bag of sh!t, hunting like hell, and trying to put some revs on...

    TD4 Selector shaft weights..

I'm guessing you mean yes it is a pain to get off, I was going to do it if the clutch needed doing, while its all apart.

    TD4 Selector shaft weights..

Spot on, probably could have been clearer if I'm honest. Any experience anyone??

    TD4 Selector shaft weights..

Does anyone know how much of a pain it is to remove the gear selector shaft with the weights on? Ours suffers quite badly from these weights vibrating at about 1500rpm, there's a bulletin I believe that says to cut the larger weight in half to stop the vibration.. Its a bit a job to see in...

    Buzzing from underneath td4?

FBH is controlled by a signal from the ECU, then via a temperature sensor behind the front bumper, you can see it fitted behind the lower grille. Mine stops working at about 15 degrees, but sometimes suprises, if its sitting in the shade it may fire up on a warm day, but soon stops. You can...

    button baffler

Not even sure if the system is still running, I used to have a gizmo with lights on it that stuck on the windscreen, told you where traffic jams are..

    Td4 Starting Problems

Low pressure fuel pump at the rear of the car is a known problem for not starting, if this fails badly and causes a low fuel pressure usually a warning light will be on. When you wait for all the lights to go out before you start, you should only have one amber light on, the one with a "!"...

    TD4 Clutch biting point..

It seems the biting point on our Td4 is getting pretty much as low as it can go, just thinking about lifting your foot will make it bite.. I've done some searching on here and it seems its well worth bleeding it first which I'll do when I service it, clutch seems fine and doesn't slip...
