Thank you for all your comments, I will be replacing the offside first. I have never done this before so if all goes well the nearside will follow but if the job turns out to be a bit of a mare then at least the worst one will have been done.

Hi again. I still have a whine on my p38 4.0 litre petrol, I have changed the front diff but it has made no difference. I noticed that on the motorway at 65 ish when I took a bend the noise and vibration increased as I went around a left hand bend and decreased around a right hand bend...

It is a 4.0 litre petrol manufactured 2000. When you move off gently all is fine but put your foot down to pull away fast or do a right turn and the engine fades , take your foot off the gas it picks up so long as you dont give it too much gas.

When moving off just after fires up and runs smoothly, however when the accelerator is pressed and the car is put under load it dies momenterrilary then picks up and dies again picks up etc. it does this until the engine gets hot and then runs perfectly. Does anyone have any ideas what to look...

Turns out it was a broken wire, £600 later :(

I have read everything and it all seems straight forward, the only thing not mentioned is how the seal is removed and refit. Is it just a push fit or are there special tools required?
