after a cold start the engine dies then comes back when accelerator is pressed

When moving off just after fires up and runs smoothly, however when the accelerator is pressed and the car is put under load it dies momenterrilary then picks up and dies again picks up etc. it does this until the engine gets hot and then runs perfectly. Does anyone have any ideas what to look at to resolve this problem?

I have the same problem with my P38A Thor 4.0 LPG. Intermittent problem - it doesn't happen every day.

It is a 4.0 litre petrol manufactured 2000.

When you move off gently all is fine but put your foot down to pull away fast or do a right turn and the engine fades , take your foot off the gas it picks up so long as you dont give it too much gas.
