Noisy wheel bearing! Which wheel?

I have noticed on a long right hand bend at 65mph (when the noise is usually worst) the noise goes away! On a long left hand bend at 65 mph the noise stays the same or gets louder.
From your experience is the damaged bearing on the nearside or the offside?

I think it is the offside but my mate thinks its the nearside! if I can narrow it down to one side or the other I then have a 50% chance of getting the repair right first time :)

Its a RR 4.0 petrol P38 by the way.

you cant adjust p38 wheel bearings
But you can replace them?
:fencing:
p38 wheel bearings,he didnt even say in the thread if was driving a disco 1 or an elephant. Most wheelbearings are connicle so can be tweaked up,if these cant then replace them.If 1 side has gone then the other is sure to follow, replace both with minimal cost and effort.....job done!.

Thank you for all your comments, I will be replacing the offside first. I have never done this before so if all goes well the nearside will follow but if the job turns out to be a bit of a mare then at least the worst one will have been done.

That number is for the complete hub and is been superseded by GBR 100.

The way I understand it the bearing can't be changed in the hub, if someone has managed it I want to see pictures.

Do a search in range rover then! I see you've had salesman bull why would they sell the bearing then !!

The bearing can be changed, I have not done it on the P38 but done it a couple of times on Transits. I cut the bearing out as they are bloody tight, I freeze the new bearing in the deep freeze for at least 24 hours and heat the hub in the oven, I have then found I can press the new bearings in with a large vice instead of the 20 tonne press specified:)
