    Tub refurb suggestions

The tub on mine was it's original 86 model and had been used with an LPG tank so had many holes cut in it. I looked at the cost of the YRM floor as all the ribs and floor were rotten. I read up and there are just so many spot welds you end up with rivets everywhere. When I did the sums I got...

landy needs a new coat of paint, but were to buy it from? caledonian Blue.

As just suggested search out your local paint supplier. I got my Chawton White litre to do the roof. As you, the next visit will be for a larger quantity of Caledonian Blue. I will be interested to see what yours comes up like as I was intending to use brush/roller

Fuse Box Harness 90/110 upto 1989

Just get a good unmolested late 200tdi harness with blade fuses already. That should solve all your electrical issues as you can check it over before you fit it. I have one to fit to mine. My preference over splicing a blade fuse carrier into the original harness.

110 Fuel Tank - where does this bit go??

Thats the spill return for an EFi setup. The tanks are the same between Rangie & Defender maybe even a Disco. My early EFi Classic had that extra pipe connector. As said the connection by the filler is the breather. Spill is via what would be the in-tank pump on the top and pickup is built...

Rad muff for 30 mile commute?

Unscrew the viscous fan and store it in the back for the winter as Jason says. Blank the radiator off with some porous material like carpet. That will still allow some airflow to prevent hot spots in the radiator. If it is in strips you can weave it between the slats of the grill without...

    charging question

I had my 300tdi running at 14.1V with no load last week. When you had lights and heater on it would drop to just under 13V. Spent a few minutes with the battery dis-connected (in true Haynes style) and removed, cleaned and replaced all the heavy cables on the alternator and starter motor. We...

    V5 doc engine issue

My 110 is still legally registered as a 110 V8 as it was built. When you look down further it's got a cc of 2495 and is fueled by Heavy Oil I got my V5 changed when I fitted the 300tdi and that is how it is recorded.

    Defender transfer box question

Check a few things first The TD5 box will have the cross drilled input gear but the 19J probably won't and the speedo fitting will need swapping over. After that there is the handbrake linkage which will be direct cable operation on the TD5 and cable/lever on the 19J

Can I tow this behind my 90? Confused.com...

Yes you are correct with your figures. All this gets complicated with the minimums and maximums of all things. To list a few limiters. The 3.5T limit on the trailers relates to using overrun brakes, beyond that you need power brakes on the trailer. If the trailer is over 3.5T you also...

    Galvanised Chassis and Bulkhead

Back in the day when there was a glut of td5 bulkheads on the market, they were also offered newly galvanised. Think I read somewhere that some place builds bulkheads from scratch using all the repair sections you can buy and filling in the rest. I don't fancy the price of that one though...

    V5 is correct but..

    1. My 110 was originally a V8 and it still states on the V5 that is one. As it is now 300tdi powered it has an engine capacity of 2495 and Heavy Oil. 2. When I did my conversion I used the ignition feed to power ht erun solenoid. The ignition lights still come at the same point on the...

What year did 110s/ defenders get power steering?

My 110 V8 had PAS from new in 86 If you really want one without PAS don't let it influence your buying decision, just take it off. I am sure there is someone on here that has an ex sqaddie machine that would do you a swap for your PAS components.

URGENT: Fuel Pump Supplier - Bristol

Yeah Pete keeps a good shop. Prices are a bit strong but he doesn't buy in the rubbish that others do. He used to be my local supplier.

Just in the middle of changing the loom in mine from glass to blade fuses. It's a good time to fix those other things that needed doing for ages and splice in some additonal accessory feeds properly.

    Rear seat mounts 110 csw

Beaten to it ! Just get the roof you want to give you the vehicle that you want. That's the beauty of a bolt together Defender. You could also change the sides for the newer ones without the small windows at the back

    Rear seat mounts 110 csw

The boxes on either side come further forward on the van body I beleive. You can take the seats out to make it flat. I built a frame in the back of my CSW that is removable. It then gets boarded out with an 8x4 sheet of 18mm ply. We used it when we went camping in Scotland as an emergency...

How hard is a chassis swap?

Just the scenario that I didn't want to get in with the creeping rust bug. Chassis change for me was £1.5K plus the chassis. I did spend more but that was for bits that you have already done. It took me from October 2005 to July 2006 working outdoors. That was not full on and I did take all of...
