Dip beam and side lights not working

Hi,

Wondering if any one can help.

My dip beam and side front lights just suddenly stopped working.

The main beam works if I use the stalk, and the rear lights work.

Is it the relay? I have a 1980 defender 90.

I have ordered a relay so, hopefully this, but just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Also I took off the front dash and found this, see the attached picture with arrow, can anyone enlighten me as to what it is and does?

That will be the Dim /Dip unit then !

I had a similar problem recently except my side lights DID work. I tried the pink Lucas switch and it was not that. In the end I purchased a replacement horn/indicator stalk and this fixed it for me.

Apparently the connection for dim/dip goes through the horn/indicator stalk first and is prone to failure.

You can join the blue + blue/red wire which goes into the indicator stalk and it will show if your dim/dip are indeed working if not, then it could be earth/bulbs blown etc.
