    Worth a gamble?

I am considering purchasing a 2001 discovery 2 with 135000 miles. It has the 4.0L lump in it and is going for $4000. I don't do a lot of miles but I am worried about the miles (not high for US standards - my Jeep has 225K) given the checkered history of these engines. Would you take the gamble...

    Starts but wont run

Hi guys I have an opportunity to pick up a '95 4.0SE for less than $1000. The car looks clean in and out with no obvious faults other than it wont run. It will start but stalls almost immediately. The guy selling it believes that it needs a new fuel pump. What do you guys think?

    Thor v's Gems

So at the moment I am on the lookout for a new rangie. The choice over here is somewhat simplified. You can have either a 4.0L or a 4.6L. No doozals ( not that I would ever stoop that low - sorry Datatek :D) and the highest trim I have seen is HSE. There are some really good examples of both...

Both rangies sold this weekend. Really sorry to see them go. Only 2 Cherokees left. Hope the new owners have as much enjoyment as I have had. Fingers crossed I will be able to find a nice one when we get to sunny California. Packing company arrives tomorrow.....:(

    Baby Gets A Bath

Was heading home and came across our local ford in full flood. Got my mate to do the photo honours. At the other side was a dead Disco. Who says P38's are afraid of water. Mind you when I saw the photos I thought I was mad.

    EAS Whistles

Guys My EAS whistles everytime the system vents air. Everytime I stop my arrival is announced by a couple of peep peeps. It like driving Thomas the bleedin' Tank. I changed the exhaust silencer but this made no difference. Removing the silencer altogether just changes the frequency. My guess is...

    Swapping Instrument Cluster

Guys I want to swap the instrument cluster on the '99 for one off an earlier model. I just want to make sure that the mileage is stored in the becm and not the actual cluster so I keep the proper mileage. Anyone know the answer? Thanks again JT

    kick Down

Coming back from Manchester this afternoon over the Woodhead pass. Pulled out to overtake a truck, floored the accelerator but nothing explosive happened. She dropped 1 gear and gently accelerated me towards the on coming car. Scared me ****less. Tried it a few times over the rest of the trip...

What make of radio was fitted to 1999 P38

When i got the 1999 car it came with an after market Pioneer radio which looks crap now and probably did when it was new. Anyway I would like to swap it back to the factory model but not sure who the OEM was for that model year. The CD changer in the back is also a Pioneer so has the previous...

The wife's '99 just passed the MOT with only 1 advisory for a O/S rear Tyre getting close to the limit. The other 2 are due an MOT this month as well so fingers crossed I score a hat trick. :) Strange new non certificate they give you now. Just a print out on regular paper.

So who fitted my brakes wrong...

OK well that was me. Last year when I replaced the brake pipes I also replaced the brake hardware on the rears including new calipers, housings, discs and pads. Brakes were fantastic until a few weeks ago when I started to get a judder when braking from 50mph or more. It continued to get worse...

    California Dreaming

So as some of the more eagle eyed amongst you might have spotted I was offered a job in California which I have now accepted. Start on 1st May so busy trying to prepare for the move. Anyway I love my P38's and it will break my heart to sell them and so I have decided to try and pick one up when...

    Fitting a CB Radio to a P38

I am toying with the idea of fitting a CB to my Rangie but was wondering if it would mess with RF receiver? I don't have the latest RF receiver as yet so would this be pre-requisite purchase?

    Thor V's Gems

Recently I have been driving the wife's car (Thor) due to a couple of minor issues it has had. I have noticed a big difference in the drivability between the Thor and my '97 Gems. The Thor is nimble , responsive and light on it's feet whereas my Gems feels heavy and sluggish. Also noticed that...

    Handbrake Adjustment Query

Hi guys My jobs today were to grease the props and UJ's on all the cars. I also wanted to adjust the hadbrake on the wifes '99 4.6. I noticed that on the rear UJ where it joins onto the handbrake drum all 4 bolts were loose - very loose. I have tightened them up but was wondering if this is a...
