OK well that was me. Last year when I replaced the brake pipes I also replaced the brake hardware on the rears including new calipers, housings, discs and pads. Brakes were fantastic until a few weeks ago when I started to get a judder when braking from 50mph or more. It continued to get worse and I noticed that both discs were badly scored.
I bought a set of new discs and pads and this morning I set about fitting them.
I noticed that the spring clip on one of the old pads was protruding through the caliper. A little more investigating and I spotted that I had clearly put the pad in the wrong way round. Same story on the other side. Somehow I managed to mix up the pads so I had two outter pads on one side and two inner pads on the other. Not sure how I missed this at the time as the pads have a chamfer which should face the rear of the car. Anyway lesson learned and judder now gone. Also noticed that the annoying rattle at low speeds has also gone.
