The wife's '99 just passed the MOT with only 1 advisory for a O/S rear Tyre getting close to the limit. The other 2 are due an MOT this month as well so fingers crossed I score a hat trick. :)

Strange new non certificate they give you now. Just a print out on regular paper.

When I got one of those new one's. I went back to the mot place a few days later thinking I'd left the mot certificate behind:eek:

You don't need a certificate it's just for your records. The police know if the car is taxed, MOTed, insured, who the owner/keeper is before they stop you. Any copper can get full details of any car in two mins over his radio. If you get stopped there is no such thing as a 5 day producer anymore.

I deal with the DVLA on an almost daily basis and with the mistakes that I see this scares me. Then trying to get them corrected is SO difficult and can take weeks by post. At the moment I can visit a local office and get the important ones dealt with rapidly but they're closing all of these.

Got stopped for speeding the other day and I got a the 7 day producer albeit only for driving licence!

Yeah for a licence maybe. But not for insurance/MOT anymore it's all on the computer. They will know you have a licence, maybe they need it to add points to it. Don't know about that.

Maybe all the computerisation will let them start to send out a reminder notice for the MOT in future. I only noticed this one was due when i went to check the date of expiry on my own car.

I meant to say that the tester initially wanted to fail it due to the ABS and TC lights not going out. I said they don't go out until you drive it and he said he knew this and that his documentation said they should extingush when the car reaches 5mph however mine didn't go out until the car reached 10 MPH. I persuaded him to go for a drive with me and tried to hold the speed below 10mph. After about 10 secs the lights went out. He was happy with that but FFS is this picky or what.

Actually i think it's above 7 mph according to Land Rover. So his book is wrong. If you have silly wheels on speedo reading will be a little different.

The wheels are standard 16" jobs but given that the speedo is unlikely to be accurate (at rest it shows 5mph) its a bit cheeky to fail the car. Different if they do not go out at all. On my '97 it takes nearly 20 secs for them to go out and I am well above 10 MPH by that point.

That's because the pressure pump for the brakes is lazy more than likely. You are not supposed to drive off until TC and brake warning lamps go out. Only ABS should stay on til you move off not all of them. Actually it's 5 mph 7 Km per hour i got that wrong.
