    Engine keeps running!

My 200TDi Defender had a run on problem. Had to stall the engine to stop it and was a b!tch to start sometimes. Discovered a small brown/white wire with a tag on the end, and a corresponding empty spade under the solenoid. Was very loose fit so tweaked it with pliers and hey presto, runs like...

    Def 90 V8 3.5

Usual bit of fettling required, but a common choice with some of the comp-safari boys round here ;) Other option is to go for a Sebring stainless backbox which is a direct replacement and very similar to a TD5, but quite a bit more expensive (my Rangie had one on it).

    Def 90 V8 3.5

Tubular manifolds from wherever, standard centre box and a Disco TD5 backbox gives a very subtle grumble at low revs, but snorts like an F1 car when you boot it.

    Wipers/headlights Electrical fault

Dodgy earth bonding points is my bet. Had something similar on my 90 that occured after I took it wading for the first time at Tong. Put the brakes on, reverse light lit up as well as the brakes and the fog light indicator came on the dashboard. Ended up running a pair of new wires from the...

    Driving without MOT

I agree with the above, but from experience, driving without MOT is not an endorsable offence, just a £60 on-the-spot jobbie. Depending who pulls you (West Yorkshire Police Land Rover owner does help), you just say "yes, I'm on my way to book it in now" then frantically ring Neil to get it...

    Def 90 V8 3.5

Tubular headers, standard centre box and a Disco TD5 backbox did the trick on my V8 hybrid - subtle grumble, F1 style snort at high revs...

    p 38 autobiography

Right, got a mate wanting to sell a 2001 X reg 4.0 Vogue SE with a few extras (can't tell difference from Autobiog spec), 20" alloys, full ticket. I've done thermostat, plugs, AFM cleanout, fixed throttle body preheater design fault recently. Has also had the updated sender unit so mobile...

    discos axles into defender

200TDi props are different from 300TDi/TD5 props due to the R380 box being slightly further forward. V8 props are different again, and so are 2.25 petrol. If it's a Disco I axle, it's a straight swap, use standard Defender prop and it's OK. Disco II or newer has 3 bolt flange and rubber...

    200 TDi tickover problem

Well, I'm back for a bit. Noo job taking it's toll, designed and built the Yarksheer Water summer Roadshow (last minute rush job) and in the middle of building the Court Room for the new UK version of Law & Order:London for Fox TV (3 weeks to turn pretty artists pictures into full walnut...

    <Ping> Buster (or anyone really)

Reet then, time fer an update. Undid O/S lock nut with a long 3/8" extension bar, a bit of filing an a big piece of 42.4 tube I had lying around. Lock nut was done up too tight, inner nut was as slack as a whore's flaps. Next I found that the ABS ring hadn't been fitted properly and had been...

    V8 engine help please.

The engine number stamped on the block should tell you this. Do search on this forum or t'interweb for deciphering engine4 numbers - I know Rimmer Bros website and I think RPi Engineering website have this info.

    couple of questions

Right, axles are a straight swap, gearbos and transfer box will be OK as well, but the 300TDi is a bit more complex to fit. Also the props might be a bugger to get the right ones to fit. It would be a nice conversion when done, but I would go for a £400 MOT failure Disco and put in...

    couple of questions

Yup, you got 10 spline running gear, unless you've swapped it for Rangie axles to give you disks all round. 200TDi should be a fairly straight transplant.

    Plus gas, GT85, WD40 - which one?

GT85 is good, currently trying the 3-in-1 penetrating stuff. Seems OK so far but haven't come across any truly rusted to ferk bolts yet...

£26 for the steel??? You was ripped orf mate. Last batch we made worked out at £14 per pair for steel, and they had tree sliders as well. Andersons Scrappy in Ripon, 2x5.6m length of 80x40 box, 3x5.6m lengths of 42.4 thick walled tube - all surplus construction stuff weighed in by builders...

Reet then. Changing disks and bearing on me Rangie. Removed calipers OK, retracted drive shaft, flattened out locking washer and put box spanner on nut. WTF, 6mm hole to stick summat in to turn it!!?? What are you supposed to stick through that hole that will undo the nuts without snapping...

    v8i fuel econ

Clean out yer AFM with Halfrauds bike chain degreaser, NGK BPR6E spark plugs, decent leads, new air filter, dizzy cap and Rotor Arm. Failing that get your LPG system serviced as it could be fuel starvation. If it's on Petrol try putting a new inline fuel filter in as well. Forgot to add, my...
