    EAS Relay 20 query

Hi all, I want to check operation of the EAS Compressor - read that bridging contacts 5 and 3 of Relay 20 should make the compressor run. I have Relay 20 off but the numbers are different : 30,85,86 and 87. Any idea which of these two are to be bridged ? Thanks

    New Alternator 4.6 V8 Gems

Hi all - thought this may be of use to some. Had my original unit ( Magnet Marelli 100 amp ) repaired Feb 2012 for £50 from a local repair shop. Failed early last week so took it off and went back to see him but he had shut up shop - cloud with a silver lining !! Went on to Ebay and found this...

    Rev Counter and Speedo

Wammers - you are correct !! I swapped fuse 1 ( 10 amp ) with one from another ( fuse 17 ) - started the car - rev counter worked and radio did not need code. I didn't drive but hopefully speedo will operate. A message then flashed up " fuse 17 fail " so that must be the one I changed...

    Rev Counter and Speedo

Hi all, I had to check fuses under the drivers seat for cigar lighter - after that there is no rev counter or speedo function . Also the radio code needs inputing each time the car is started. I have just checked fuse number 1 - that is fine as are all the others in that fuse box. P38...

My Magnet Marelli ( Lucas ? ) alternator

Hi again, An earlier typo - mine is a 1998 not a 1999 though that probably doesn't matter. Datatek - did try Ebay as you suggested - none there match mine. There are A127's though they have a yellow wire coming out with a spade connecter at the end and two large bolts. Mine is a A127i...

My Magnet Marelli ( Lucas ? ) alternator

Hi folks, I noticed my parking lights flickering and also the lights in the dash. The alternator light also came on a couple of times as did the "alternator fault " message on the display . I had cleaned the earth and live connections recently and got the following voltages on idle : 13.80 on...

    p38 front prop

Hi chip, Sliding joint towards gearbox - slightly higher than axle end. If it was the other way maybe grease would "flow downhill" out of the joint. Mine is a 4.6 Alex

P 38 - ticking / clicking sound from down under

Replaced the front propshaft - the UJ's and sliding joint had no play at all and are greased up. Ditto for rear prop shaft. I jacked up each front wheel in turn - only a couple of degrees rotational play , drained front diff oil - clean - refilled with a thicker oil but no change in noise. I...

P 38 - ticking / clicking sound from down under

wammer I will replace the front propshaft then take off the rear one and go for a short drive. If the noise is from rear diff will that still occur with no propshaft ?

P 38 - ticking / clicking sound from down under

I slackened the serpentine belt - no play in A/C compressor or any other unit. In neutral with handbrake off I can rotate the handbrake drum by hand - just a few degrees say 12 oclock to one oclock position. Handbrake works OK . With hanbrake on no play at either end of the rear propshaft.

Bleeding front prop again! Britpart so shouldn't be surprised

Hi kooky, I used the propshaft tool and a 9/16 open end spanner to remove my front prop shaft yesterday. Did it on the road outside - suspension on highest setting and drove front nearside on to a section of 8x8 wood. Took a little while - hour and a bit.

P 38 - ticking / clicking sound from down under

Hi, I get a sound from underneath when I take my foot off the accelerator - on all speeds over 20 mph. The faster I happen to be when I take my foot off the faster the ticking / clicking sound is. No sound when slowly accelerating or going up a slope. As per previous advice I removed the...

chamelio, Under the front passenger seat is the EAS unit. P38 transfer box and rear propshaft

hi rewmer the effect I am getting seems to be a rhythmic sound as opposed to a vibration - unless the vibes are causing something to make noise - there is a tiny bit of play in the UJ on the rear of the front propshaft - in only one plane not two any ideas about a rubber damper on the rear...

P38 transfer box and rear propshaft

Hi folks, Following my earlier thread about transmission noise - wammer suggested front diff nose bearing - which will do soon. My mechanic was driving the car and reckons the tranfer box is suspect. What would make the noise in the TB when lifting off the gas ? Re rear propshaft I saw a...

    HEVAC book symbol question

Hi all, Wondering if anyone has had this and what was the reason. When starting up from cold there is no book symbol. A/C is off by the way - after a few minutes when the temp needle has moved up a bit into the blue zone the symbol appears. The various air vent switches do their job and the...
