Ok On My 2.5 Ltr P38 I Just Turned It on And A EAS Light Appeared .. I know its on bump stops And on The HUD a message is appearing Saying SLow 35 MPH Now When I turn the ignition on the Compressor is running But the EAS is not Getting Air ,

So... My initial thoughts Were leak So how do i turn the compressor on without the engine to fink the leak or ..... What else could it be?

Anything will help and please if possible simplify it .. Lol Im A Bit:doh:

The 35mph warning means that you've got a 'hard fault' that will need to be cleared before the system will work. You need the software and a computer lead from Datatek.

Mind you this should also stop the compressor running so you've definitely got a weird one. Get yourself plugged in and see what the fault log says.

Let's start at the beginning.
Welcome to Landy Zone.
We're a bit weird on here and tend to take the p**s out of anybody who stands still long enough
HOWEVER
we can be very helpful.

Put your location into your details and you might even find somebody local who will spare you a little of their time. (cuppas and chocolate biscuits are obligatory).

For the moment what has happened is that the computer that controls your suspension has detected a fault. To save you, the car and the suspension it allows you to drive home or to a garage but at no more than 35mph.

Then a fault reader has to be linked to this on-board computer to find out what the fault is and clear it from the memory before the system will try to work again. A garage might charge up to £80 to plug their fault reader in.

You can either buy a device that will read and clear the fault from BlackBoxSolutions for about £100 or you can dowload the necessary software, for free, onto your laptop and then buy a lead from Datatek (more expensive items are available) so that you can connect your laptop to the car and read and clear the faults.

chamelio,
Under the front passenger seat is the EAS unit. Unclip the long connector ( be careful ) and use a length of wire to connect pins "1" and "8" - compressor will run and fill the air resevoir but the pressure switch will not be active to turn off the compressor when correct pressure is reached( this info couresy of rangerovers.net)
As dogsbody said the faults need to be cleared as well - to get the system running to find leaks from the valve block to airsprings.
I bought a little unit EAS buddylite for about £60 via blackbox solutions on Ebay - plugs into a port in front passenger footwell and resets the system.
Or if you have a laptop then datateks lead and software.
Put your location in your profile - someone may be near you.
Good luck

Thank you Greatly .. I Will Insert My Location And hope my stay here is lomg ... My Dads Just Searching the Net for the datatek lead now .. im gona make a start on the software ... Does it have to be p38 Specific

Hi There,

I would strongly reccomend downloading the software and buyins the lead.
It will enable you to read the faults adjust the settings and test out he sytem fully.

Once you have the EAS faults cleared raise the suspension to fulll wading height open a door switch off the engine, with the door still open and disconnect the relay under the passenger seat that controls the self levelling timer. shut the door lock it up and leave it over night.
In the morning only the corners with the air bags with leaks will have dropped.

Good Luck -

I'll back up WANTAQUAD. The BlackBox bit will get you going but that's all it ever does.

Sorry mate DATATEK is a member on here who makes the leads and sells them a lot cheaper than the ebay crowd, he's also a bit of a guru on P38s and talks a lot of sense.

The software is specific to P38s but can be downloaded for free courtesy of Storey Wilson in the States who spent years cracking the codes or whatever and produced a program that can be used to set-up and cure faults in the EAS - www.rswsolutions.com.

Thanks Man Seriously ! Life Saver .... Oh wait Who has the software Lol ?

Cable is £11 + £2.67 P&P if you pay by cheque or £15.67 if you use Paypal, it comes with a CD with the free EAS software and an airbag replacement guide. PM me if you want more info.
With the free software you can turn the compressor on and off at will. You do need to have a laptop computer:D

The seal goes on the piston.
One of the valves will get stuck.
The air bags will leak.

You are talking £££££££££ just to keep it going up and down.
One payment for springs and your done.

This link may be of help

Air Suspension Faults, Diagnosis and Repair

If you search on the Landyzone site you will also see the problem discussed and information about the RSW software and leads.
Storey is also amember of this site and may be kind enough to help if you have any problems with his leads or software.

He was very helpful when I had difficulty with my EAS. The software will clear faults and check to see if the compressor functions and if the valves work to raise and lower. It also allows you to set the sensor height etc.

Taw 4x4 in Devon did sell the leads or you could try Ebay but download the latest software from the RSW site.

Good luck
