    Discovery Pick up and VOSA?

No vosa check required as all you are doing is altering the body style. No different to dropping a Freelander shell on a disco chassis - it's still a disco, just a different body plan
  2. Q

Difficulty engaging gears and whirring noise.

Where is the bite point? Low or high? If it's high then the clutch is worn (diaphragm fingers moving away from flywheel due to worn plate), if it's low then probably a slave fault

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide

The main reason for the air suspension failing is lack of basic maintenance. Cleaning the compressor filters and washing dirt and grime off the bags being the main cause. As the bag rolls over itself, any dirt acts as an abrasive, wearing holes in them
  4. Q

    Gearbox issues (again)

Try the hydraulics first, bleed them and see if it improves. It's lack of clearance that is causing the problem, so basically your clutch fork isn't pushing the diaphragm fingers far enough to release the clutch. Have you recently done work on the clutch, or had it been sat parked up for a long...

    new clutch problems( i think)

Hope you remembered to check the driven plate orientation........ Getrieberseite = gearbox side (If you didn't already know of course :) )

Improving 300tdi mpg (the obvious and less obvious stuff!)

Good findings. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy new injectors though? Last time I looked they were about 45/50 quid each for standard ones.
  7. Q

    Major clutch problems.

It's advisable to change master and slave at the same time in the TD4. Problems occur from cross contamination of old and new fluid (as they are pre filled) which usually leads to problems after 12-18 months. Does sound a lot like air in the system though. Bleed it at least 25-30 times to...

    new clutch problems( i think)

Did you check/change the spigot bearing? Possibly the cause allowing the input shaft to move around excessively

Help needed with CB in the Colchester area.

Pre swr'd aerials usually still need checking. My mini springer was sold as pre swr'd, but when checked was a mile out. Try a longer aerial and check the swr

Help needed with CB in the Colchester area.

Have you swr'd the the aerial?
  11. Q

    new clutch problems( i think)

Out of balance? I wouldn't be getting any advice off him. Clutch covers don't generally get balanced due to the low weight. Check the gearbox mounts etc first just in case. Can you see or hear anything from underneath with the engine running?
  12. Q

how to glue the rear mirror

My auto dip mirror in the disco has been stuck on with no more nails double sided tape, hasn't fallen off in 3 years, even in high temps. Got it from asda.
  13. Q

Lifting body of a disco one

Yep, quite involved. All links between body and chassis need removing, so 10 body mounts, 4 seat belt mounts, fuel filler neck, heater hoses and rad hoses, brake flexi lines, steering shaft, gear levers etc. It will then lift off. If you have access to a telehandler or forklift it makes it easier.
  14. Q

    200tdi clutch issues

You have a clearance issue, which could be the bearing collapsed judging by the bang, so not enough pressure to fully disengage the cover. You still have drive, so probably not cover/plate related, unless one or more of the damper springs have gone in the drive plate. May also be simple, slave...
  15. Q

    clutch or gearbox problem

Is the transfer box in gear? Crawl underneathe and get someone to operate the clutch see if the props turn, that'll tell you if the box is ok. If the plate was the wrong way round then you wouldn't get gears with engine running.
  16. Q

    increase MPG

Fuel from the branded garages is better quality, and you will get more mpg from it. I always use shell fuel from the same garage, and can squeeze 450 miles from a tank doing the weekly commute. When you take into account the big tyres, tweaked pump, full size intercooler and other bolted on bits...

    clutch problems :(

Always change master and slave when doing freelander clutches. I have seen loads where only one has been done, and a matter of months later the other will go too. It's to do with the small volume of fluid involved causing cross contamination and destroying the seals. Early ones are a sealed...

300tdi timing belt failure - pump culprit ?

Were all the pulleys aligned properly? Only reason a belt would run out of line like that is if one was not seated properly. Possible bearing wear or even a bent bolt/stud would have the same effect. Dayco are OE supplier to LR for the timing belts. There should have been a spacer behind the...

    Sun visor pimping....

A mate of mine had changed his to some with lcd screens in them, and has fitted small cameras in the front of the wings facing sideways, brilliant when pulling out of blind T junctions. He also replaced the rear view mirror with a 4" screen with a camera on the top of his rear hoop.

Any one fitted a mud led interior light?

Yep, one feed and one earth. I used an led trailer side marker lamp in the boot of my disco, connected up to the original wiring
