Hi,
Newbie so please forgive..
It's a 2003 L322 Td6.
On start up, if you select Drive, not much happens. If I move the selector across to Sports mode, then go from 1 to 2, off we go.
I do this for about 30 seconds, then put back to standard mode, and then all is well!!
Is this a characteristic or something I should be concerned about!
Many thanks.
Carlos.

This is not normal. If you select drive it should go into gear and off you go, I have a 2005 l322 td6 and don't have this problem , maybe some of the more technically capable regulars may no what is wrong

Sport mode holds gears for longer between change ups. It has nothing to do with setting off from a standing start. When you select drive and move off, the box should be in first gear, sport mode will hold that gear for longer before changing to second and so on and so forth. Sounds like you have sticky valve block until the fluid warms up.

When you engage 1st gear manually (I assume you mean Manual mode rather than Sport mode) it applies the Low/Reverse clutch, in addition to the Forward & Coast clutches. In ‘automatic’ mode (i.e. ‘D’) it relies on the Low Clutch sprag to hold 1st gear. Maybe the Low Clutch sprag has given up?

Thanks for the info.
I haven't yet tried any other gear, I just tried the Sports mode as seemed to be a good idea! I'll try the first gear next time I'm in it. Strange though, as once sorted, it so far hadn't come back on any journey, which can be stop start, and engages from d straight away.
Would a change of gearbox oil and filter assist of its a sticky valve?
It's not my everyday car, but I do very much enjoy it, but just wondered as seen so much info on the grearbox, but never seen this issue.
Thanks again for all feedback, much appreciated.
Carlos.

Hi all,
Just to say I took my RR to work for a good run on Friday.
Forgive if a muppet, but I can only see the option to select anything other than p,r,n,d.on the options, then tbe gears only when moving the gear selector across for sports mode.
So, I did my standard MO and seleted first, then second, then within 500 meters, across to d and carry on. Within another 500 metres, come to to a junction and come to a standstill.
Dont do anything, just press the acclerator and we are away!
Strange!!
Any ideas other than a gearbox oil change?
I have heard it maybe a software issue, which forgets for a while?
Least I can work round it!
Cheers for now:D

What is this is says nothing of this in RAVE, this came from FF wiki.

Reset the transmission/ gearbox controller (with ignition off, push accelerator pedal to the floor; ignition to position 2; continue holding accelerator pedal to floor for 60s; ignition off; pedal release)

Hi. Is this related..?
