    Getting my V8 to run

Might be a real long shot. But had the same problem when I put a v8 in my 90 and it was the fuel pump position. I originally had the electric pump mounted in the engine bay and it wouldn't work, as soon as I moved it to its proper location behind the fuel tank problem sorted. Might be worth a look

Central Locking Failure on Front Door

Hi, you will find that both the front doors and the tailgate are not being locked when using the fob. I had the same thing on mine and after reading the wire circuits and understanding the systems it turned out to be the drivers door lock/switch unit. Other then the cost of the new part the...

    book symbol

the book symbol can mean a few faults. If your A/C needs to be re-gased the compressor clutch will not be able to engage. If you turn the AC on and look at the compressor you will see if the clutch is engaging or if the pulley is free wheeling. The other common faults are blend flap motors which...

are the fold down tables rare ?

these are still available from land rover for the very reasonable price of £1600 plus vat. you can see why these were not fitted to many P38 from new. LOL

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

so it looks like its a crank issue?. well that i can check easily. The end float/thrust is set with the middle shell on the big end journal. I have no reason to doubt these as they have been replaced. I will pull the crank this weekend and get it checked. Maybe I have been looking at this all...

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

The oil pressure does increase to max of 55psi before the relief valve lifts and that is as soon as the revs increase. If you read rave regarding the engine, the output at the oil pump at tick over 750 - 1000 rpm should be around the 20 psi mark. I had no oil pressure hence the light and the...

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

the engine was rebuilt over 2 years ago and had given me completley trouble free motoring for 15k miles, until the pressure issue. Since then it has been striped and rebuilt again in the last 8 weeks to try and sort the oil pressure issue. Before you go down the oil pump route it has been...

    Remote CL/Alarm Beep

I dont get any beebs from mine when looking or unlocking. Normally a beeb is followed by a message on the message centre. The common ones are a door or bonnet isnt shut properly. thinking about it these would be a high pitch alarm siren. signifying a miss lock. It could be a sticking ignition...

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

got loads of common sense other then the block being old, well not really but yeah see your point. Every other component is new.. but come on the abuse you lot fired at me was not called for. Thats the point.

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

look guys, not after abuse. okay. my rangie has been out of action for 8 months. i got the chance and purchased a brand new coscast engine and fitted it this week to get my range back up and running. Over the last 8 months I rebuilt the old lump as it was my only option to get my rangie back up...

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

no chance. I know what the new parts which have done no miles are worth. hence the price. The oil issue maybe something really stupid. the only reason I didn't investigate further was due to a new engine coming up for grabs. If I get no takers I am more then happy to build it for me to have in...

    v8 engine change question

Hi all, Thanks for all your help on this one. I have fitted my nice new coscast engine today into my Rangie. I had to drill out the two lower fixings in the bell housing on the autobox to bolt the new motronic ali sump up. but other then that is is a great success. I am so chuffed to have my...

new engine fittes :) old one up for grabs

Hi All, I have just finished fitting my new engine into my Range Rover. So the old one is up for grabs. It is a 4.0 Gems V8. The old lump is as follows. 15k Miles ago the engine was built from scratch, the block was machined and Top Hat liners were fitted this costing around 1.5k alone. It...

brake pads changed and now no pedal

Hi I have had this with my rangie turns out that if you don't follow the procedure from the workshop manual you can get all sorts of problems. It is not just as easy as bleeding the breaks like on older vehicle. You have to bleed the systems from the ABS Valve block and work your way through it.
