New clutch (£700) no clutch

Hi I'm back, why!!
If you have followed my tale recently you will know I've had a 5 day clutch change £700, difficult due to "some rusted bolts" in some cross member underneath they hsd to cut out and re-weld?? although she seems to run ok at the moment its verry difficult to engage low & high ratio & when in low, lifting the clutch she pulls away, on acceleration she slips, what have they done wrong?.
besides my cream leather seats which have to be de-greased the wiring to the oil pressure switch has been ripped out & whatever else I cant see. Should I stop the cheque or am I being unreasonable.

Feck no stop it now. £700 is a ripoff and complain to trading standards as well. Then put in a claim to the small claims court. They've taken you for a ride.

I did it properly I shopped around asked if they did td5 clutches, £350 they said then the dual mass fly wheel then master cylinder then the slave cylinder, the clutch had only just started slipping under load only.

Did they leave the old flywheel for you to inspect? or any of the other "old" parts. I'll be very surprised if they've done half of the jobs they claim to have done. As I said get in touch with trading standards. also as It is obviously going to need sorting out get new garage to take photo's of all the damage they've done and photos of new clutch/flywheel etc. Get an independant engineers report and then take legal action to recover all the extra expenses you've incurred.

Do not stop the cheque that you have issued as it is illegal to do so and can result in a large fine/stay in prison.

I saw nothing, the master & slave look new, it was parked outside on the road when I went to pick it up.
Any ideas on low range slip and selector stiffness.

Stop the cheque and inform them that you are witholding payment pending the results of an independant inspection. Your not refusing to pay just delaying it.

redhand that is still illegal, best course of action is as you stated earlier is to get an independant opinion on the clutch and then approach them to put right, if they do not then is the time to seek legal advice.

I stopped a cheque for 4k, for work done to my rally car. It went to the small claims court and I won. If the goods are not fit for their purpose and you can prove it(photo's,engineers report etc) you are well within your rights to stop the cheque and don't worry about it.
He even went to the police, they phoned me and I told them it was a dispute between me and them, never heard anything else after that
If you stop it, the balls in your court, leave it and they will fob you off and do fcuk all about the problem to help you
Like I said, you are well within your rights to stop the cheque. It's not illegal. The judge never even mentioned it, he just wanted us to come to an agreement over the standard of work done or not done
Stop it tomorrow, might cost you a tenner but at least you know your not paying for work that's not been done and they'll know your serious

2 While it is not illegal to stop a cheque, it is a criminal offence to hand over a cheque with the intention of stopping it later, although this can be difficult to prove, or knowing that the bank will not pay the amount, that is, it will bounce the cheque. If the client pays for goods or services by cheque and then stops the cheque, court action can be taken against her/him for the money owing. Court action can also be taken even if the client does not owe any money, for example, if s/he returns the goods s/he has bought and stops the cheque.

You may fingd they were able to get your cheque, and within minutes feed the details of it into their system, and have the money out of your acount before you even left their premises.

This may make stopping the cheque difficult ...
