going to give my gearbox a new filter and some oil. i know that the usual method only gets a bit of it and just dilutes whats left in the lines/torque converter. so does anyone have a method of changing all the fluid? i have also read (via ashcroft) that by doing this it can cause further problems, anybody have experience of this?

depends what govenor you have in the box. i think. later ones were electronic eralier ones mechanical which stick when **** is pulled through the box as the ATF fluid is a detergent. on earlier ones your better just waitiing till it pops then ****ing arounf with it.

it can cause problems, best just change the oil once ,theres no need to change all of it ,apart from there no way of emptying torque convertor ,only way is to fill and empty at the same time through cooler pipes while engine running

this is a 2001, so ill be assuming that it has the later governor? i have had this problem before on my classic. another question, i have a allmakes filter. now i know its only a screen but i have lost faith in pattern parts in recent years but have decided to go with this one and have been tossing up whether to fit it or not and go genuine....?
