Just did a clutch change on me defender, now when I press the clutch in it springs to the floor stays but you can pull it up, it's like the pedal is just on its spring and not attached to the master cylinder, could it be just bleed the system and it'll be fine or is something else?:(

Thanks for helping I did the searching but just people who have there clutch stuck to the floor and won't budge.

How have you got on???? When my master was on it's way out and level of fluid dropped my clutch pedal would do that, more fluid and it was fine after pumping the pedal a few times, my clutch seems capable of bleeding itself,:confused::confused:

tap the master cylinder press pedal, tap master cylinder and press pedal.
Sounds like master cylinder plunger not returning as caught on unworn section-only goes that far when bleeding.

failing that master cyl knackered at a guess

Best silicone tubing as not affected by brake fluid

Hi just tried bleeding and just wasted two bottles of clutch fluid! :( What I did was I put a 11 ring spanner on the bleed nut, put tubing on the nipple to a jar then taken off the cap on the master cylinderI then put the cap from the automatic bleeder with the hose to the bottle, put some fluid in the bottle, put the other tube onto the tire then undid the bleed nut put air into the bottle the fluid went into the slave cylinder and nothing came out of the bleed nut. I untightened it a bit more while the fluid was going in but nothing then the whole bottle wasted with nothing still on the pedal so I got another bottle tried again same thing! Had a look for any leaks anywhere and non?! I swear there is some magic going on, it's took two bottles of fluid and its not even on the min level at the master cylinder! I do not know what to do..

Right its started to well up with fluid in the bellhousing and started to drip so now onwards with either a new slave cylinder or a repair! Thanks James, damn thing nearly gave me a heart attack after putting everything back then suddenly the clutch pedal hits the floor! Time to follow busters guide to remove the slave cylinder...
