Decided I'd do a bit of off roading yesterday so went off for some lanes..... the first holey bit I came to there was an almighty noise. It continued to drive for a little while before turning into a very bad vibration and shudder.

Pulled onto the side of the road and result - ****ed donut and prop! It was if I recall hanging on by 1 bolt!! Removed prop with the help of a mates spanners and had to drive it back (hour and a half home) in diff lock

On the way home on the A road, there is another loud crash and my handbrake drum goes flying off down the road with a shower of sparks as it beats the tarmac    Well ****ed off! I forgot to take it off

It is if I recall the third donut the dam thing has had in a year! The first one was a land rover genuine one, the second a ****part and the latest one (the third) was a genuine!

I'll hook it out the bin and pop a pic up in the morning. It looked like a birds nest of string when I was taking it off

Now, the plan is to remove the flange on the rear diff and pop a front diff flange on with a 200tdi prop. That will sort the constant donut replacement problem out.

Will keep you all updated :)

There's a couple of PZ3 screws in that handbrake drum for that reason. Or at least, there should have been!!!!

They had obviously shook out during the drive.

It was worse than sitting on an overloaded washing machine on the spin setting. I though the gearbox was going to drop out!

Aye, similar story here after coming back from Granby Farm on Sunday:

4-bolt flange and a wide-angled jobbie going on in place of said Ye Old'e donut. :D

excuse my ignorance as i dont normally deal with these rubber buggers but it appears that theyre not up to the standard of offroading and heavy towing id rather have the old metal universal joint than these new fangled durex specials

are the metal uj's better or not ....laydees n gents your thoughts please :hijacked::D:D:D

Makes you wonder why they changed it from a 4-bolt flange to a 3-bolt rubber coupling when they progressed from the 200 to the 300.
Massive backwards step, clearly.

It was all to do with the "comfort" apparently

Yes, a 4 bolt flange is sitting here. Just need to get the prop bolts and I'm good to go!
