Ayup,

Changed the fuel filter t'other day and accidently snapped one of the metal outlets on the banjo connected to the tank return pipe. I've been and collected the new pipe and banjo kit that I ordered and screwed everything back up nice and firm with all new seals in place. There's no longer any power loss or jolting and I can pull up hills well! Good rhythms I say.

Only annoying thing now is the fuel filter casing is loose where it joins the bulkhead and I can't tighten it up! Is this a major dashboard out operation to get to the nuts or is there something else I can do (sans botcherie)?

You can't get at tuther side, the screws go into nutserts which are in the hollow section of the bulkhead and short of knocking them out and putting newuns in theres nowt much you can do other than trying to rivet the fronts over or dribbling locktight or summat between them and its hole in the bulkhead, Or gaffertape an nonails might work.

You could do if you knock the owld uns out it int that hard to put new uns in, or just self tapper it on a bit lower down if your not bothered about drilling holes in the bulk head.

Get a little bit of steel plate.
Weld or braze two nuts onto it.
Tidy it up and paint it a snazzy shade of pink
Rivet the plate to the bulkhead with 4 decent pop rivets,
Bolt the filter to the nuts.
Job done.

great idea! Red would be better than pink me thinks, but whatever floats your boat :p

I've used bolts with a dropdown pin for bolting things to box section steel before. the pin fits into a groove cut into the bolt which also has a slot for a screwdriver in the visible end. you insert the bolt into the hole then turn it 180 degrees and the pin drops down then you use a screwdriver to stop it from turning while you tighten the nut up. I used to get mine from Screwfix but I haven't seen em on their site for a while now. So I don't know if they're still available.
