Are you living in Surrey like it says in your profile? I've just got a standard A-Bar with two spots wired into my full beam. No problems

I have never looked into it myself and I am only repeating what I have heard in the past. I believe it is what it can be sold with, aftermarket is different.
Did they not change the law on bullbars ages ago, like about 10 years ago, yet I see loads of 1999 + landys on the road with full wraparound metal bull bars and things.

My understanding of the law is that you can fit whatever you can buy as the onus is on the seller to be within the law and not the buyer. As I understand it all bars sold must be E marked. The bars can only be sold if they are going to be no more damaging when running over bobble hats as the original spec vehicle would have been. This means that you can buy and fit an A bar that is not E approved without fear of prosecution, but if someone is caught selling you one that isn't E marked they will get shot at dawn.

The penalty for selling an illegal A bar is higher than the penalty a drink driver would get for running someone down. £20k fine and a year in prison.

Thats the wrong attitude.
Mine has a metal A bar purely to protect the Radiator.from the thick skulls of the bobble hats when they don't move out my way.

mine is made from 5mm thick steel its made to withstand the knocks offroad and in winch challenges
