Hi to every one.

Anyone know where abouts the diagnostic socket is located on my Series 1 XDi 2ltr. There is a multi plug tucked under the passenger side near to the center console. Only a couple of small wires connected to this plug so not sure if this is the culprit. As a side, does the engine have to be running to carry out a diagnosis test? Might be a problem if it has to.

You don't need always need the engine running. It depends on whats wrong with the vehicle. Low fuel pressure, immobiliser status injector pulsing etc etc can often be checked by live data with the engine off.

Spot on droid, found it exactly where you said,,,thanks,,,and to you ratty, looked exactly as you suggested.

Just as a side, anyone know if the ecu loses it's memory with the battery disconnected for quite a while? My reader/scanner's coming up with zilch.

Stefan.
