Anyone encountered the following problem?

I have a Freelander 1 td4 pre facelift. Have 2 fobs and both programmed with car. New batteries in both but both rarely work (opening and locking car). Central locking works when using button on dash.

When they do work, there is no buzzer sound so its not a fob battery issue.

Have also managed to re program both to car (using foxcon diagnostic pc with programming function) and was a bit of a pain as car doesnt always respond to signal.

I was suspecting issue with reciever j above cluster unit). Got another used one from a donor but still sme problem. Next Im gonna cut the plug and soldr another from the doner reason being i can se that wires look like they were bent too far and may have internal damage, broken copper and not making intermitant contact.

Anyone encountered this problem as couldnt find any info on similar issues.

Before you start taking apart the receiver, have you checked the internal buttons on the keys. I've had to replace many of those on various car keys over the years!
