Storm 99 - "Let me know how you get on if you win them...and take photos b4 and after!!"

Hello avid readers ;)

Ok so I was bored today and decided to get my wolf rims done. I'd just had a set of 4 delivered which I won on fleabay for a very reasonable price. They are old MOD rims which were a bit dusty with a rather pathetic paint job. I set to work with preperations yesterday by doing a one-over with the power-washer, sanding them down (lightly) and then washed them again. To finish up, I let them dry out nicely over night.

This morning I got up, shot out to Halfords and bought some grey primer and all the matt black sprays I could get my hands on. In total we ended up going to 3 different Halfords-es? :p before I had enough cans of the magic black stuff but there you go! After that it was plain sailing: Mask down, primer coat on and then just manic spraying until I'd run out of paint. Obviously I let the paint dry between layers, avoided spraying too thickly and tried my best not to lose detail on the original markings.

Right well enough of my blabble, here's one or two photos of the rims. My fender is currently M.I.A but I'll whap some photos onto this post once the new rims and my new set of 255's have been bolted onto him :D

Thanks for reading, pointless banter welcome as always

Ben

Unless you not putting tyres on why paint inside rims

Because I'm a bit OCD like that. I couldn't live knowing that only half the rim was painted, it'd drive me crazy. If you're going to do something, do it properly :amen:

I did mine recently. I painted mine by hand and it was a bit of nightmare.

Also, I used Halfords Laquer and the wheel nuts took the laquer and the top layers of paint right off :(

They still look alright though :)

Why do you guys go to Halfords they are so expensive, find a local car parts place and save a fortune, i pay about half what halfords charge

Just fitted Wolf to mine, bargain at Billing, brand new in the box proper Land Rover part numbers, £ 37.50 each.:D
