Woke up Monday morning to discover my beloved 90 was missing from directly outside my house. It is a '86 (D895 DDX) in Bonetti Gray (respray) and is fully modded for off roading with Range Rover tan leather arm chairs and an 8 ball gear knob. It is a unique vehicle.

I spoke to a Landy mechanic friend in the SW who said that the Police had been notifying owners in that area that the the theft of 200TDIs and older 90s had risen steeply recently.

It was his opinion it was either in a container going to Ireland or heading for Eastern Europe.

The police say it's long gone.

I have a telephone call booked with the insurers today at 11am where I shall begin the next round of frustration no doubt.

The attached pic doesn't show the 4 extra round spots I put on the roof rack or the extra A bar at the front.

If anybody has any helpful advice please feel free to contact me. Thanks.

Blimey... I'm going to be in Wokingham in a fortnight with mine:

Do you think it was the colour they wanted or the roof rack? I'm in the clear if it was the rack :D

It's looking like either there are new gangs springing up or the ones from up north are targeting new territories due to heat from the police in their own area.

Indeed, it could be that they travel further afield as they 'run out' of easy pickings in their usual hunting grounds.

i think that there are organised gangs processing the vehicles who are using druggies and other petty criminals to actually do the thieving for them.

Someone is making a lot of money out of this. the problem is landrovers are easy to steal and easy to dispose of when they've got them. 300s and the new type transit engined ones are popular for export to eastern europe at the moment, i reckon that's the most likely destination, they probably aren't stripping them for parts as the market would be flooded with dodgy spares.

Sorry to hear about your Landy being stolen, have you placed ads in the usual magazines (they're free)? Have you posted the details on websites like mystolenlandrover.com?

landies are easy to convert to left hand drive and sell for far more money in Poland than they do here. Its the feckin EU again.
