Windscreen wipers

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and have just purchased a 2004 Freelander, 1.8 petrol. Already love it, but it's windscreen wipers don't work. When you switch them on a relay clicks, so I gather the stalk is ok, but the is no motor noise or movement at all.
I've tried searching the forum but keep getting an error, so apologies if this has been discussed to death before.

Can you hear the motor going?

No, only a click from the fusebox area which I believe is the relay...

Have you tried wiggling the wiper arms, to see if they're connected? It's not uncommon for the linkage to fail, which sometimes results in the motor getting jammed and burning out.

They appear connected as they are all connected to the linkage I think as they don't move.
It's just my luck they don't work now it's raining!!
