yes it will be capable of doing the job. They don't like water though so a good dose of silicone sealer is advised.;)

What's got me is the seller says or implies not to go near some other winches on ebay 'cos they're cheapies. His isn't exactly an expensive one either! Decisions decisions then.

The Cheap winches are all made in the same factory in China. The only thing that differs is the brand name on them. I have one. It's the bridged solenoid version that is meant to be waterproof. Only now I have stripped, cleaned and sealed it with silicone is it waterproof. It doesn't like letting the cable out when under tension though. I'm gonna fit mine to the rear of my landy as I now have a PTO winch on the front. I still need to get a propshaft for it though as it is currently just an ornament.:D

LOL, Love the bull**** "made on the same line as superwinch", what a complete load of bollox!!!...........................on the flip side tho, you will find that winch is IDENTICAL to a T-max winch, in build and everything else, also made in china.

9500lbs is the "norm" or min recommended for a Disco.

I have dealt with "chris" at winch-it (second link) good guy to deal with.

bit of a munster is that,so's the price too, still spose if ya cant get the whole vehicle out ya can rip it out bit by bit with that :D

I got one of the winchit ones and yes the fella there is ok, they are after all said and done cheap winches and as such not a patch on the warns/superwinchs of this world - but if your like me running a disco on a budget and a winch is only for occasional self recovery these are worth the money (or by a Tirfor). word of warning though the solonoid packs are not in any way water tight so a little waterproffing is called for - mines been filled with candle wax, works well and the water cant get in - and should I need to get at the solonoids all i need is a hair drier
