Recently I got my 90 mot'd only need a patch of weld the size of a credit card that I cut out and welded in, I then went off road and broke a front shaft and cv again, ( I have a rear locker and front trutrac)

I also snapped a rear shocker, f*#ks sake, so I got some new +5" terraferma and rear mounts, also some gwynlewis rear challenge dislocation cones and some front challenge mounts and a 8274 +3" tray to fit in to my bumper for my new winch I got 2 weeks ago, and some heavy duty gwynlewis cranked rear arms.

Then thought I better get some wide angle props,

Got it all fitted great ready for the next pay and play, just helping out marshalling pulling people out, then I was on my way home and was thinking yes finally 1 day off road and I'm driving it home and its not broke,

Then I developed a whereing noise and a vibration, not to bad, I then pulled on to the motor way put my foot down to join off the slip road and the f ing clutch slipped,

Got home and removed my wading plug praying for it to be full of water, well it was as dry as a bone, also whilst I was under there I noticed oil all over the nose of my rear diff, crabbed the prop and there's play in the input shaft of my rear diff, the f ing things only 6months old but has no warrenty,

Recently I have done new rear calipers and pads and rear bearings, front bearings discs and pads, fit a roll cage and all the suspention mentioned above and serviced it,

I don't often use it as I got every where in my van but I've had enough of fixing it, every time I take it out something eles brakes even when I just use it to walk the dogs, I'm going to make a list of all the mods and work out how much I will get if I sell them and sell the 90 as a standard 300 tdi.

Rant over sorry

rant accepted...the joy of landy ownership..how much for winch rope lol...joking,

stick with it, i bought my disco as "sensible" everyday motor green laner, occasional pnp site motor, she cost me £1600 which was abit steep just over a year ago, but 1 owner from new full SH blah blah blah...in just over 12 months iv spent over 4k, in mods and fixing stuff, bearings, bushes, diffs pads mainly but i wont sell her lol

however ...how much for 90 :)

it all happens m8 on the way to a pay n play my cambelt snapped...spent all day yesterday fixing other things anorl

we all feel like throwin in the towel sometimes, but seriously your issue isn't terminal its just one of the pitfalls that goes with the hobbie

you fix summit, summit else breaks then just repeat this process for the nxt 5 years

don't be such a big girl :p:p

i thought you was warrior :D

park it up for a month or 2 and take some time to sort it, you have put a lot of work into your 90 and money. im in the same situation need a tbox and clutch but not doing it for a month sick of spending money on the 90.

i want 1st dibs on your roll cage and winch if you selling :D

hi,yep thats landys for ya,i decided it would be a great idea to put a 1978 series 3 88inch on the road for a first car,yea great, but iv have gearing probolems(still have em),renewed all the brakes, still not right, yes iv had clutch probolems,3 master cyclinders, injector pump probolems, indicator probolems, throttel cable, prop uj's,u get ma point!there is more, but the list a fekin long,ur nearly there mate, most people do this, they get 3/4 of the way there, and give up  why? stick with the old girl mate, ull get there eventuly, okay the clutch is a pain, but the rear diff, drain oil,5 bolts each side of the motor on each hub, slide the shafts out, take the prop off, unbolt the diff, have it repaird,or get a replacement! they arnt that expensive! if you get another motor you may aswell just start with all your probolems again!

Oh dear :(

You dont mean it really, what would you do with your time if you didn't have it.

Perhaps it needs an easier life for a bit, I've had mine nearly a year and all that has gone wrong was a couple of bits for the MOT and the fuel tank, but they were all age related.

Why not have a holiday and go laning instead of the Pay & Play

+1

know how you feel.

Decided to take mine off the road for some love and affection the other week, as ive got a daily driver now. Anyway some members on here persuaded me to go to there pay and play in wales  i didnt even get to off road it.

bad steering wobble on the way down with a dose of clutch slip. :(

Then after a weekend of not off roading it, on the way home one of my front uj's is squealing and red hot. Had to take the prop off on the way home!

So i need to take the engine out of mine along with the usual ever growing list of things to do.

I just leave it for a few days and then think about it again with a fresh perspective.

Chill winston. :)

I'm just thinking I have most of the standard bits I took off or they are easy to come by, sell all my bits sell the 90 as standard and with the money I think I may get for all te parts and 90 add a little more and buy aa challenge truck that's 100% ready and build with hs drive shafts ect.

As for off roading I know it gives them a beating but I know 2 guys with challenge truck they bought and have never realy had anything go wrong,

I built a track car spent way to much money on it but built it right, i drove it hard on the road and track, 3 years after I built it I sold it and all I had done to it after was new brake pads a discs pads and fluids. 2 years on I know the car is still racing in the trackday trophy.

come for a pint tomorrow, it'll change your mind!!

Carnt make it tomorrow if thing change ill be there

and you think a challenge truck will be more reliable?

just fix wot u got any landrover you buy will give u trouble..you just gotta get on wiv it

It's not just that, I have a van type and was so close to hitting a tree with the roof,

Think I want something more idiot proof ie full cage truck cab with body sliders challenge wings, I just don't want to throw any more cash at mine of time, I'm self employed and always short of time,

My mates put an offer in on it, wants me to go down and take a good look for him, I'm after a pic up do I could modify an ifor back for when I want to use it to walk the dogs,

P&P sites always result in injuries to vehicles... I think 75% of times i've been i've broken something fundamental.

Laning on the other hand is (in my opinion) more enjoyable and results in about 5% fundamental breakage.

And that's with a fairly un-loved 1964 series... I'm sure with a newer 90 you'll get better rates than I get!

I try to go laning once or twice a month... the rest of the month is for fixing it... it's the way it works with most Land Rover's :)

Stick with it!

i was gonna get rid of mine after xmas for a better spec'd truck cab but after a mate pointed out, sometimes its better the devil you know.;)

laneing can become tiresome..and if u really want to see what your motor is capable of then laneing isn't the place to do it
