Yep that's landies regardless of whether it's a road going disco or a competion built motor. They all break whilst offroading.

If you get a Comp vehicle. You'll try more and more extreme challenges and you'll break it. If you're seriously thinking of going Comp Why not keep the 90 and do the Mods to that? Seems silly selling a perfectly good 90 that's got a fair bit of the kit you'll need to make a Comp landy with???

Tubular wings can be bought As can tubular trayback.

exactly u cant polish a turd but ya can roll it in glitter and someone will buy it cos of the pretty bits

All the gear and no idea is plantyfull on the winch comp scene and its a reason for me at least to stay away for the moment. I might have a dabble in my series 1 when its done and I'm happy with it. Winch challenge has got so popular somthing will go wrong shortly somone will get hurt and the MSA will bring in lots of regs and push out the jolly boys and it will return to some order. Whilst I agree this may not be a good thing it will get rid of dangerous motors which seem to fly past scruteneering when they should be banned from the road.

Warrior when it stops becoming fun its time to stop have a think and make it fun again.

Remove your mad stuff put it on a shelf and return the 90 to std you will love driving it again I assure you.

This is partly the reason I'm building mine from the ground up, so I know that everything is as it should be and will last as long as It can be expected to I'm not spending silly money on shiney bits that I don't know if I need yet, at least you know who built it and who's to blame if something goes wrong or breaks that shouldn't, if you but one you have no idea who built it whether they're a perfectionist mechanic or just bought parts and put them all together with little care or attention, take yours off the road and fix what needs fixing, get it right and build it into the exact truck you want

If I were you I wouldn't sell.

I had about a year out due to illness, Disco on SORN, no contact with LZ or anything Landroverish .. partly 'cos the Disco had problems too and I was ****ed off with it.

Now I can't get enough, and it still breaks or something different happens to keep me from laning or even just driving it, but because of that I actually love driving it more!

Not into comps or PnP's anymore, but laning and weekends away with a group and a campfire is 'real' fun in my book .. sadly I can't get to a tenth of how many I'd love to do, which makes the ones I do get to memorable.

Waffling now, suffice to say I think if you sell it you'll regret it .. you KNOW that vehicle and what you put into it above the price .. keep it but don't use it and fettle it steadily till you're not as ****ed off!

Plus you've got a nice list of parts that with a few adjustments could work very well together

I've bin watching your build thread looks good.

Gone get a price for the clutch off my mate today, and there's a small local place that will rebuild my diff so ill give them a call.

I think I have decided its not my landrover its just my life, came down stairs this morning just enough time to walk the dogs befor going to work, to find one of our dogs is ill and has had the runs in the night and its all over the kitchen but must have bin a while ago as some had gone hard, I just hope my day at work is better.

It'll still break... it has a green oval on the front

But, at least if you build it up yourself it is less likely to break as often and when it does you know exactly what is what on it

Haha good point plus I'm not renound for being shy

It's very helpful to know we're everything goes and to have practice taking things apart and putting them back together again which is useful for when the green oval strikes !

I'm debating wether or not to send the diff off to crown diffs as its £250 if all it needs is the input bearing, or build it my self into a diff I have sat in the shed,

I built a full track car including the full engine and its still going strong 3 years on

Now I have had chance to relax and ponder I'm not selling it, I'm going to fix it up but do it as and when then leave it to look at on my drive for abit and look at it every morning and think oh yeah that works, not its f ing broke AGAIN,

Found a local small place run by to old guys who will rebuild my diff if I don't do it, I was thinking of selling my locker and trutrac and getting some Ashcroft lockers instead, also pegging my diffs as I'm building them.

What's the pair worth to sell? Ill have the rear rebuilt ready to go front was rebuilt about 8 months ago by crown diffs.

I bought a d1,some months back.i had no battery and oil light,rev counter didnt work,the spotlights where the 12volt twist and tape variety,seized diff lock lever removed about 8 meters of unused twin core cable that was everyware.i spent a couple of weekends when the weather was good rectifying the above faults.jobs to do now is 3 bits of welding,n/s swivel ball is shot and leaking,o/s swivel bearings need replacing,change all oils and sort a leak out on the windscreen where some muppet had pulled a bit of the seal back to trap the wiring for the roof lights.
I did question my sanity as to why I bought it.......but I told myself its built in Britain by brummies,so it will break
One day it will be all good.......when the weather breaks so I can do stuff,especially round payday

If your getting lockers or going to run the ones you have you need the shafts an cvs aswell .. Just buy the lockers an save them till you buy the shafts an then save till you can buy the cvs

It's all good an well buying lockers for your Lanny but people need to remember if you up rate stuff you need to go the whole hog an not just half way .. Or it's just pointless an as you have found out you just keep braking suff or putting major strain on your other components if your going to do it do it properly

I know that's why I've broke 2 front shafts and cv's recently, I will be buying a set oh hd shafts and cv's

Long term I've done a fair bit of work to mine and if I want a truck can with full cage ill sell my van body and cage and buy what I need to make mine what I want, was chatting with a mate and I'm to far in with my time and money to turn my back and sell it now, it's gona spend a month or so off the road for me to do some more work to it and get it sorted again.
