I am a bit confused about the different tire widths on the D2? I have an TD5 ES Auto with 255 55 18 width tires and my mate has a TD5 Manual, not sure which model. but his has 235 70 16 ??? I think that the difference between the wheel size is aesthetic?? but why the width difference?? is it something to do with the ACE system?? I hope someone can help me sleep at night :)

Thanks

255 is width 18 is wheel diameter,235 s are cheaper nowt to do with ace ,ace is a hydraulic ram that pulls or pushes on anti roll bar to keep vehicle more upright round corners

I understand what ACE is (thanks for the explanation anyway) so the reason for the different tire widths is to do with costs? I was thinking that it was to do with more grip in the road? hence the thought about ACE. my mate has the narrower tire and no ACE I have the wider tire and have ACE.

I don't have a D2 brochure but I was going to check if ACE was an option? and if the upgrade included the wider tires.

Anyone got a D2 brochure?

its probably the salesman that sold yours originally managed to persuade the tit that bought it that 18 inch wheels looked better and it were worth paying the extra

i too have 18" wheels on my d2 and have always thought of them as a bling thing.
when the tyres eventually wear out, i`m gonna swap them for some 16" wheels.
from what i`ve read on here, the ride and choice of tyres is better with 16".

18" 255 were standard fitment on the XS and ES, 16" 255 on the GS and the E and S had 16" 235 the E having steel wheels the rest all having 8J alloys.

If you had stated the model year of your disco and your mates disco we could be more specific.
